Bad move by his agent!

We are one of the few teams in the lotto that can slide up to #2.

Oh well, as I've mentioned in another thread, this team needs a big in the worst way.

He just measured in at a **** hair under 7' barefoot, over 7'1 in shoes, 250 lbs. He's 20 years old and a hell of a physical specimen. He produced at least as well as all of those guys even though they're a few years older. Leonard barely played his freshman season but made huge strides his sophomore year. I think from a physical stand point you can't deny that he has more potential than those other guys, but looking at his age, his production, and his improvement why wouldn't you think he's going to keep getting better?

None of those guys are going to get drafted on the basis of being a guy you dump the ball into on the block and expect them to score. These days NBA centers are largely the anchors of a defense. If you're talking about guys you project as that type of impact player on defense, the only other guy I would think has a chance of being that kind of player is Melo. But Leonard's chances of becoming that kind of a C are much better IMO. He could be a Tyson Chandler kind of player on defense.

Of course, any team who drafts him would be wise to protect their investment by making sure he gets a lot of coaching. Hes a long ways off but if a team likes his work ethic, believes they have a coaching staff who can bring him along, and is patient with him they could be getting a really high level C.

You don't draft journeyman centers (if he is even that) in the lottery....not unless you want to lose your job.....Teams with dumb mgmt make those kinds of moves....

and he will NEVER be Tyson Chandler....

Cleveland and Portland have talked about swapping draft picks, according to source. Cavs would get #6 and #11, Blazers would get #4 and #24.

Way too steep for 6 and 11. If they had a mid teens pick that would be one thing, but 24? No thanks.

I'd do it if Robinson were available but there is no way he falls out of the top3.

-Davis
-Robinson
-Beal
-MKG?

Beal is the only guy I can think of that might be available at 4 and not 6. Is he worth dropping from 11 to 24 for? Interesting. I wouldn't be against it. It's always better to have 1 really good player than two mediocre players. Remember 2005?

Hell no! I would be way happier with what we can get with 6 and 11.

Looking at who they are brining in for a workout I'd guess they're eyeing MKG.

Rather have Drummond and Marshall..........or Lillard and PJ3!

Yeah Drummond is gowing on me. Now that it sounds like he is a possibilty I have been reading a little more about him. I like this analysis:

"For a big man, Drummond is just about as mobile as they come. Two footed jumper with impressive leaping ability. Definitely explosive relative to NBA competition in terms of vertical ability, he gets off the ground fairly quickly, is just as impressive off of one leg and can play ‘above the rim.’ Has legitimate end-to-end speed to be a factor out in transition."

I still don't think he will drop to us but I would not mind it. (Other than the whole jinx thing)

You're going to have to bring in a serious bigman coach for Drummond. He's a long way away from being a contributor.

I don't want to wait 3 more years for a big man to develop!!!! Move LA's ass to center and let's roll!

Drummond 3 years away? He should be able to step in immediately and be a top 10 defensive big man. His offense will take time. But then again, MKG is very similar. Will be a top 10 wing defender potentially right away, but offense isn't there.

Oden's offense was far from polished when we drafted him. Don't sleep on Drummond because his post moves are raw. Especially when we aren't exactly in "win now" mode anyways.

From nbadraft.net:
He needs tremendous polish offensively, but if he hits his stride, Drummond has arguably the highest ceiling of anyone in his class based on his rare physical attributes

There has to be a reason, if this is all true, why the Blazers want to leapfrog the Kings.

Haven't we learned to stay away from big men in the draft. I don't give a shit how we acquire one, just don't do it thru the draft!

I disagree.

If you have the chance to grab a future star like T-Rob you do it and run.

Did they say what the reason was? If he thinks he will go higher and doesn't want to waste his time then I have to question him and his agent but I am OK with it.

But if he doesn't want to play in Portland, then I have a problem with it. Did they give a reason?

Trying *really* hard to be optimistic - maybe he already knows the Blazers will take him if he falls to 6th, but he has dreams of going even higher.
