And his evidence was from a guy who said he'd take Jae Crowder early in the lottery as well. So.....I'll take those opinions with a large grain of salt. Sometimes, you can stare too hard at stats, and forget the game is still played on the court, and not on paper.

My stats are paperless.

Okay, what is it that Rivers does on the court that is good for his team? I buy that there are "no stats all stars" who have "great intangibles". But that's because they don't measure things like "hockey assists" and "great pick set" and "funneled his guy towards help defense brilliantly" (well, somewhere they do). But those are all things that Rivers wouldn't know about if they bit him on the ass. Rivers is above that sort of thing. Give Rivers the rock and get out of his way. And then he'll do this:

Every year there are players taken late in the draft who, if you ranked the players a year later, would be in the top 15. He's saying Jae Crowder will turn out to be one of those players.

Every year there are players taken in the lottery who shouldn't have been drafted. He's saying Rivers is one of those guys.

Sounds pretty plausible to me.

(Yes, no doubt Rivers has a nicer HoopMixTape than Crowder can ever hope to have. But I'm sure that was true of God Shammgod too.)

I think he clearly stated he would draft Crowder early in the lotto. I'd call early top 7. He didn't say when all is said and done, he will look like a top 15 player. He said he'd take him early lotto. So if you are going to link him to complain about Rivers and Barnes, why have you not started the Crowder at 6 bandwagon? Shit, he'd be a steal at 11, by that thought. Would you take him at 11? Would you take him if we got 16 from Houston?

He is 19 years old, are 19 year olds not allowed to improve? I think he showed enough at Duke last year to think he has great potential and can score in the nba.

Tony Wroten is a 6'6" Rajon Rondo. He'll be a steal in the 2nd round after every team in the NBA passes on him at least one time!

I will owe PapaG a beer if Wroten makes it to the 2nd round.

Does Wroten have the basketball IQ Rondo does?

Doc Rivers called Rondo the smartest player he's ever coached. That's saying something having coached KG and Ray Allen as well.

"True sarcasm doesn't need green font."

The Draft express mock draft now has us taking Lillard at 6 and John Henson at 11.

Connecting the dots:

he Portland Trail Blazers are actively shopping Jamal Crawford. If they don’t find a deal for Crawford by draft night, they will lose him for nothing because he will opt-out and become an unrestricted free agent on June 29. Portland extended the deadline for him to opt-out so that they could shop him and try to facilitate a trade

The Wolves also remain interested in guard Jamal Crawford according to league sources. Crawford could be moved by Portland during Thursday's draft. If not, he'll opt-out of his contract and become a free agent this summer. The Wolves nearly signed him in December, and then came close to a acquiring him in a trade in March

Problem is teams with capspace know they can get him without giving up anything if they just wait. Minny can wait.

What teams like him, that do not have capspace this summer?

Its mostly because they will have to offer him a multiyear deal(and compete for him with multiple teams). Trading for him on draft day for a first round pick gives the team an expiring + doesn't cost them capspace.

I'm pretty sure that trading him would entail him opting in to his 1yr, 5 mil deal, so essentially he would have to agree to the deal as well.

I don't see this as very likely.

Canzano supposedly about to tweet some news that peripherally involves Blazers.

Peripherally? So maybe a move around them in the draft that could affect how they draft? Has to mean a move that affects us but not involving us, I'd suppose.

Yes. But thats how he always does it.

I'd say Canzano's a whore, but whores gives it away much easier and much quicker.

If is anything worthwhile he'd have to just report it without teasing. If he's able to tease it and wait til his show then it probably isn't significant.

Agreed - but earlier he said he was just about to discuss it. Now he's just trying to stretch it to tomorrow. More nothing used to get peeps to listen to his show.

pretty sure its about Roy and the teams pursuing. Woj and blazersedge kind of jumped him on it.
