Olshey's definitely doing a good job of amassing pieces. He's calling in all the puzzle pieces he can to PDX, seeing if they fit, and will trade them if they don't. Smart moves to get a real accounting of our assets.

Couldn't agree more

data to back it up, or just throwing out random sentences?

nt to butt in, but..scouting was no wherre as advanced as it is today. NBA spent very little time on small schools, and almost zero time looking at the euros, heck when we drafted Sabos, most people were shocked, most had never taken any notice.

package any talent outside of Aldridge (batum, Wes, crawford) + both picks + youth to trade for D-Howard and then max offer to D-Will. :MARIS61:

6 ft 6in guard that has proven hisplay in the NBA vs whatever unproven guard that others here would otherwise draft? FK yeah I would jump on that like beerboy on HCPs wife.

When that 6'6" (rounded up from 6'5.25") guard shoots in the 20% range from three, worse that Andre Miller and Marshall, yes, I would take the unproven player.

OK, I respect your point, so,who would be better in this draft at guard?

The guy who cant shoot? The guy who is too short? Or, The "combo" guard?

First off, Evans is a combo guard, so don't go thinking he is a true PG. If you want to compare combo or SGs, then I would take Lamb over him, and if you want a PG, then yes, I would take Lillard over him too. Without an outside shot, I don't see Evans being a top level player. He hasn't improved his 3pt % in four years. Lamb is a much better scorer and defender if you want that. Lillard has a better all around game if you want that kind of PG. Evans is a slashing combo guard with a lousy 3pt shot. I would rather take a flyer on Wroten.

ESPN (Insider) has put together a mock draft in which current players make selections for their teams. @NdotSmitty drafted for #Blazers ...

Could be fun. Interesting to see if Nolan picked a PG

LOL

Sullinger at #6
Lillard at #11

Beal went 19th to the Magic

S&T Batum + Wes + Picks for D12 (probably have to take Turkeyglue). Then max offer to D-Will and we're back in the mix! :MARIS61:

we wouldn't have space for deron if we took on Hedo with D12

He's buds with Sullinger, so not surprised by that. Nice to see him pick a PG, though. Tells me he's not afraid of a challenge (not that he'd have a chance to win it), but it says something about his character.

Nolan D. Smith ‏@NdotSmitty
@BlazerFreeman please note, pics were also made before injury flag on my guy sully

Well, thank you for explaining your opinion.

I am still of the belief that none of these guys are ever going to be as wonderfull as they are projected to be. I would rather have someone that can get me 16, 4 and 4 as we start the season. Not maybe two or thre years from now.

The one thing i do know, it wont be a black or white thing, but some shade of grey, if we do draft one of those meh guards, I hope you are right.

Anyone post this link to CNNSI scouting report?

Thanks, this was interesting (edited and redacted to small excerpts):
Andre Drummond, 7-foot center, UConn: "Physically, he's off the charts. I personally don't like him, . . . I don't think he's immature, he's just underdeveloped. The question is whether he loves to play and how hard will he work. People forget he made his decision to go to UConn late and he had some NCAA issues, so he didn't get a normal preseason."

Jeremy Lamb, 6-5 guard, UConn: "That kid can really play. His facial appearance and body language makes it appear that he doesn't care, but he does. . . ."

Meyers Leonard, 7-1 center, Illinois: "Physically, he's Tyson Chandler. . . . He's 255 pounds, but he can probably play at 265. . . . People don't want another Darko, but I think he likes the game more than Darko did."

Damian Lillard, 6-3 guard, Weber State: "He's the most unselfish scoring point guard I have ever seen. He's a great kid -- a great kid. He played more like a two in college, but he played on a team where if he didn't score 24 points, they wouldn't have won a game. Who was he supposed to pass to? . . . ."

Dion Waiters, 6-4 guard, Syracuse: "I'm a big fan. He's Dwyane Wade-ish. . . . The only drawback is he's a little small, but he's thick, and he's a surly guy. . . . I would take him over Jeremy Lamb five times a day."

Tyler Zeller, 7-foot center, North Carolina: "Beast. I personally have him in the top seven. He's a 13- to 14-year NBA center. He can shoot, he's strong, he runs. Everybody complains they can never find a center. Well, here he is. There's absolutely no scenario where he's not going to succeed."

Joe Freeman: Smith on Lillard: "The Blazers' depth chart only has me on it at the PG spot, and Lillard will bring explosiveness to a young back court." about 10 minutes ago

The Zeller comments I found the most interesting, heard yesterday Jerry West really likes him, sounds like he might go top 10?

He does have some limitations (shot blocking, non-elite lateral movement), but the guy pulled down 10 boards/game playing next to Henson, scored a bunch of points on a high percent, runs the court like a big deer, has good hands and shoots softly. I think I still would rather take Drummond or Leonard, but Zeller is talented and someone is going to get a solid, ready-to-play center.

I've come to the conclusion that I want Lillard and Ross at the end of the day on Thursday. I'd also be very happy with Lillard and Zeller.

That was apparent in his passing highlight film for sure. If he played with better talent, his assists per game would have skyrocketed. And then we wouldn't even be talking about him at #6 because he'd be going at #2 or 3.

I imagine that film with the recipient of those passes being a Batum shooting in rhythm, a Matthews catching and driving, a LaMarcus with the zero-second post-up and spin, Babbitt from half court... we have a lot of guys who can shoot if they get the ball at the right time. Felton and Crawford did not pass "in rhythm" well (if at all in Crawford's case), and we suffered for it. A run and gun lineup with threats outside and in will give him a target-rich environment, as they say.

I like both those guys, but wouldn't mind have one prospect to plug in at the 4/5. I will love to have those two, and pick up a later pick for Zeller or Sullinger (or one of the many other interesting bigs)

Zeller. Edited my post.
