Im not saying zeller is my first choice. I just wouldnt hate it.

Id rather take rivers at 11

Definitely the way to go. And if we get another lottery pick next year, so be it. The SonThunderIcs had high lottery picks three years in a row and are now reaping the rewards.

Wait: Do we even have our pick next year?

See, here we agree, I would "personally" likely opt for more upside in the position the Blazers team is in, that's not my POINT though, it is that a C like Zeller could easily be BPA at #11, in your original response you did not seem to agree with that
 
I don't really want the next Hawes, but wouldn't mind a Tyson Chandler type defender (Leonard?).

As a small market team, I just don't see another way to build a contending team other than the draft

I don't like Rivers at 6, but can't dispute that he could end up being one of the top five players from this draft a few years down the road. He has the vision and handles to be a great PG. What he doesn't appear to have is the ability to avoid saying "forget the pass, I have a better angle than my teammate does." When you always believe you can score, you may believe you can score better than your teammates, which makes you a black hole.

Yep, but id expect both to get 8 to 10 million and I would rather have an equivalent on a rookie deal unless someone like ross or rivers are at 11.

Dion Waiters doesn't jump off the page for largely the same reasons Beal doesn't either. Playing a role on a veteran laden Syracuse team, Waiters averaged nearly 3 possessions fewer than the average prospect in our rankings (15.8). He does however, rank first in transition scoring efficiency at a tremendous 1.43 PPP and does not rank particularly below average in any particular playtype.

-Damian Lillard, on the other hand, looks extremely good in this analysis and ranks exceptionally across the board, finishing second in overall efficiency (1.142 PPP) despite using 21.1 possessions per-game (1st). Getting to the line on 18.7% of his possessions (4th) and scoring 1.176 point per-jump shot (1.176), it makes sense that Big Sky product is given the benefit of the doubt as he looks to make the giant leap in competition to the NBA level.

The most efficient guard in pick and roll (1.039 PP), spot-up (1.388), and isolation off screen situations (1.324), Lillard dominates most categories in this study. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Lillard's showing on paper is the paltry 9.8% turnover rate he posted despite teams game planning to stop him on a nightly basis.

Just an average finisher (1.127 PPP), making plays at the rim in traffic may be Lillard's biggest challenge at the next level, but his ability to score in a variety of ways from the perimeter should be him a valuable asset to whichever team drafts him.

Austin Rivers does not impress in our analysis either [compared to Kendall Marshall]. His best work came on the pick and roll last season, which is a promising sign as he makes the jump to the NBA. Scoring 0.951 PPP(5th) and 6 possessions per-game (3rd), Rivers excelled in the two man game as he settled into a rhythm late in the season. On the other hand, Rivers ranked 3rd to last in spot-up efficiency (0.761 PPP) and his ability to become a consistent (and particularly a more disciplined) set shooter will dictate just how prolific he can be offensively early in his career.

This was a very interesting analysis that makes Lillard look outstanding.
 
PSU coach rates Lillard above Stuckey. Saw him play 11 times. Was hitting shots out to 30 feet. He's an efficient scorer who shares the ball, but when it is crunch time, he will take the shot inside or outside. PSU coach would love to see Blazers take him at 6.

Bilas on the Herd summary:

Austin Rivers can get his own shot. Can get by people, get to the line. Willing defender. Kobe comparisons in high school werent fair.

Barnes showed great athleticism in high school but not in college but confirmed it again at combine. Thinks his skill set will translate better to the pros. Needs to work on footwork.
