The Rockets can't be the only team trying to get into the top five, so why are they the only one we keep hearing about?

Their GM is doing what he's paid to do but this is getting annoying.

We'll give you some mid-first and a disgruntled Kyle Lowry for your #5 pick.

GTFO with that, Houston!

And my point had nothing really to do with him being too short, just pointing out that Hawkins had very similar style, size and charisma as Beal. Beal appears to be a much better rebounder though.

I like the Hawkins comparison, although Hawkins was a proven scorer at Bradley, and was also an elite shooter the day he stepped into the NBA. The primary differences are the rebounding, as you noted, and I also think Beal has the ability to create his own offense a bit better. The trade-off is that Hawk was a career 40% 3pt shooter in the NBA, so he didn't need to create his own offense so long as Payton could drive and dish.

Did I directly compare the two? No, my point is that his height shouldn't be an issue.

But height SHOULD be an issue, because if you aren't "directly comparing the two" they both have completely different games. Beal will not be sent around a screen, double screen, pin down screen - like Ray Allen. He will be a "legit #1 or #2" option that can shoot as well as get his shot off the dribble.

If you're coming off screens, height factors in a lot less than if you're trying to take your man off the bounce.

Ouch.

Apparently if the Warriors or Raptors had Drummond available to them they'd pass.

Seems like Detroit is the only team in the top-10 who really want him.

This is better than a soap opera... http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/k...ockpiling-picks-in-bid-to-draft-in-the-top-10

Word in front office circles has been consistent that the Rockets' target is Connecticut 7-footer Andre Drummond, although some executives openly wondered Wednesday if that was a smokescreen. Welcome to the 24 hours before the draft. It's possible that Houston's real target is Damian Lillard, whom the Trail Blazers are believed to covet with the sixth pick, sources said.

One thing I like about Lillard: He seems smart. There are other things of course, but his intelligence and professional demeanor really stand out in his interviews.

If Houston fails to trade for 5 and settles on taking Andre Drummond don't be surprised to see the Rockets trade with Golden State. The Warriors if they were to move down could take Terrence Ross or another wing.

cool, then we draft drummond and sign dragic.

Houston would leapfrog Portland to take Drummond, not Lillard.

They have Dragic

Why would the leapfrog Portland then? It's almost 100% given that the Blazers want Lillard over Drummond... They should acquire the 7th or 8th (before Pistons) if they want Drummond, which would be cheaper than 5.

Maybe they think Lillard to Portland is a smokescreen?

Pretty much every executive out there is positive we want Lillard, Waiters, or Rivers w/99% of them thinking Lillard is our choice at this point.

Hard to believe Houston is the sole team that thinks we want Drummond.

Although I will say, this team needs leadership, maturity and hardwork more than it needs Drummond. If we had some sort of leadership, I'd love Drummond. Only way I take Drummond is if we somehow get MKG/Drummond - as MKG will put everyone in there place, one of the best leaders in a long, long time.

So Sacramento would be trading their number 5 and Tyreke Evans for what exactly? I mean I've heard of addition by subtraction, but something seems way off.

Unless Houston gives up a ton, I'd imagine they at least have to take back Salmons and his contract.
