But that's not the point. They need the cap space. They can't bring back assets outside of draft picks. So how much will people pay?
Someone would probably pay a top 10 protected 1st round pick for him if they want no players back.

No they don't, they can clear enough cap without trading him to sign Dwight if they can move Trob or Lin, after that its just a trade for Asik and.or assets. and by the way there are a ton of teams IMO with capspace who would surrender capspace and a good bit more to get Asik

no chance. There are a lot of teams who would covet a guy like Asik and his value around the league is high

I think clearing cap space is the key for Houston. They need the space before they can offer Howard max. I think the second rounder is a little slim; but maybe the Greek, Barton and a couple second rounders could be good. That would free up literally 6 million; which is more than enough.

Hamed Haddadi was just waived. He may be the slowest player in the NBA but he's a monster per-minute rebounder.
Greg Stiemsma is also about to be waived. He's like Jeff Withey only heavier and further along.

Here's a 3-way for U guyz

HOU apparently wants a good shooting 4 to pair with Howard if they get him and then trade Asik

Por gets Asik the defensive C they covet and trade Wes Matthews to the Bucks and Leonard to HOU

Bucks get Wes as they have no SG at all and he's a local guy

Hou gets Illyasova who shot 44% on 3's last yr - nice pairing with Howard, and Leonard or a future 1st

I'm starting to think that Biedrins might be a really good option for us. He had one of the better combinations of TRB% and BLK% in the league last year, he's still only 26, and I think he's undervalued due to his offensive woes.

Assuming we aren't able to use our capspace on someone like Pek, Asik, or Jordan, I would not be upset if Neil brought in Biedrins as a 1-year experiment at starting center. Maybe get the W's to throw in Machado as a thank you for taking his contract, and have him as our 3rd PG.

I think that'd be worth it, but it'd be nice if we got T-Rob too!

Or I guess we could use the cap space we still have to go after a 2 or 2/3 w/some size.

How about this kid Marko Todorovic?

The Euro-stash game is a complete crapshoot, but with a prospect that has the size and pedigree that Todorovic has, why not get excited about a potential Gortat/Scola impact coming from the raw Euro in a few years? Not to mention Leonard's potential...

From everything I watched/read, I was really hoping Todorovic would slip to my Grizz at #51. He's not going to come over for a while, but ya'll should be embracing that pick, imo.

Huh - it works. It even sort of makes sense. I dunno if Houston or Milwaukee would think so, though. Houston can probably get more for Asik, and I don't know how Milwaukee feels about Ilyasova. I think they've been shopping him, but is Wesley enough? I think it would all depend on what McHale thinks of Ilyasova. Wouldn't the Pelicans just offer Ryan Anderson?

I think the Bucks are on the verge of blowing it up. Supposedly they were wanting to move Jennings at the draft. That was the rumor.

Why would HOU want to take on Illyasova's large contract? Other than that I can see it. But that is a trade killer imo.

They aren't rebuilding. They need pieces around Hard/Howard. Ilyasova is a good player. He came on strong at the end of the year. 18 PER player.

Isn't Biedrins under contract (a huge one) for one more yr? If he's a FA I think that's a no-brainer. He's young enough to be part of this next wave of talent and is exactly the defensive/rebounding/energy presence we need. He couldn't hit a FT to save his life in GS and that derailed his career, but he's a decent athlete and if I'm not mistaken, a decent shooter from the field, so at some point that FT shit became a mental thing. Perhaps a change of scenery would effectively shake things loose up there. If not, he and Meyers still form a solid offense/defense tandem.

If he really is a FA he's the guy we should be lookin at. Won't cost anywhere near his ludicrous last contract, has a high floor and a reasonably high ceiling. LOVE this idea.

HUH? they do this AFTER Howard is signed to fill out their roster. They need a starting PF and Illyasova is a great fit next to Howard and this gives them Meyers as a backup C or we give them a future 1st. Keep in mind it's a 3-way trade (Wes to Bucks) so they replace Asik's salary with a similar amount.

He has one more year (2013-14) at 9M

That doesn't mean they're "blowing it up". Jennings is incredibly inefficient. But with Larry Sanders and Henson they've got the beginnings of a great frontcourt.

That said, they're losing Ellis and Dunleavy... So I guess they would be fine with unloading Ilyasova...
