But they have money, and he's someone that they could try to sell to their fans as a nice pickup.

Young.
Nice stats.
Inexpensive compared to the bigger names.

Until the fans turn on him because he doesnt play any defense

Wow. Jordan really is the worst owner in history.

Amazing. He's not even cheap - he's just terrible.

[Reminder: they still owe Chicago a first round pick for Tyrus Thomas.]

Heh... makes no sense to me. Adding Jefferson to a contender makes sense, adding him to a shitty team like the Bobcats makes zero sense.

Tyrus Thomas to be available via amnesty.

Go get him Olshey!

After all, he was the fourth pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2006 draft. :)

Welcome home, son!

I'd put a bid of a million on him but no more, i may even be hesitant at that because he is a one trick pony with his shot blocking and we may have drafted a second rounder who is better then Thomas at doing that.

Which is EXACTLY why Charlotte is, and will remain, a shitty team...

This screams ticket sales to me. Grab a pseudo star to put people in the seats.

This move is great for Sac! They get their big starting PG they've always wanted since they lost Bibby. That's gonna' be a fun team to watch next year.

They should be called "SadSac". That franchise is clueless. I hope they don't screw this up, for their own good.

They chould be call "Ball-Sac"......there is a lot of talent there, they will be Tea-Baggin' a few teams this season.

I wonder if Tyrus Thomas will be our starting PF, or a back up once Aldridge leaves?

How ironic it would be for you to trade LMA for Tyrus at the PF position.

It's such a HUGE step backward.

Because the Bobcats will still be on the hook for the remaining $16 million dollars Thomas is owed over the next two years, expect him to sign with a contender for well below his market value.

Of the teams that come to mind, the Knicks, Heat, Clippers, and Thunder all would seem to make sense. While his offensive game is undeniably limited, his long wingspan and elite athleticism suggest he could be well suited to perform as an energy player off the bench.
A contender, huh? Well, that lets us out ;)

So amnestied players basically go through waivers? Teams under the cap bid on them? Is that right? If so, then why does that article indicate the 'contenders' can scoop up players off amnesty for pennies on the dollar?

Can someone explain how this works?

Thanks.

You are correct on how it works. Maybe the assumption is nobody would bid on him, so he'd be free then to sign wherever.

So Sheridan Hoops thinks he's too crummy for bottom feeding teams but good enough for contenders. Got it. :)

Thanks.
