The 16th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will take place at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 13, at Target Field in Minneapolis, and it can be seen live on MLB.com and MLB Network, and followed live on MLB.com's Gameday.

The U.S. infield alone will be enough to turn some heads. Joey Gallo, Kris Bryant and Peter O'Brien are currently first, second and third on the Minor League home run leaderboard. Gallo, who led the Minors in homers a year ago, is thrilled to make the trip to Minneapolis after missing out on last year's Futures Game invitation due to an injury.

The 23 Futures Gamers outside the Top 100 aren't exactly slouches. All but one are on their team's Top 20 Prospects lists. Sixteen organizations will be represented by a prospect ranked in their top three. There are 21 former first-rounders, including six from the supplemental first round. Among the 15 first-round picks, seven were selected in the 2013 Draft, four in the 2012 Draft, three in the 2011 Draft and one in the 2010 Draft.

The World Team features players from eight countries and territories outside the continental United States. The Dominican Republic is represented by nine players. Puerto Rico is next with seven representatives, while Venezuela has three and Colombia two. There are also players representing Canada, Panama, Mexico and Cuba.

There are a ton of new faces on both rosters. Twenty-three of the 25 players on the U.S. squad are first-time Futures Gamers. Gallo would be No. 24. Only Syndergaard is a repeat performer.

The World Team roster has a few more familiar faces. Lindor, a shortstop, and Braves catcher Christian Bethancourt are both making their third Futures Game appearances, while Maikel Franco of the Phillies and Rays lefty Enny Romero are attending for the second time in as many years. Like his organization-mate Gallo, Rangers catcher Jorge Alfaro was named to the team in 2013 but couldn't participate due to an injury.

Gallo, Bryant and O'Brien aren't the only ones with pop. Ten other Futures Game participants have double-digit home runs at this point of the season. But more than just the long ball, these are all players who have a very good chance of showing up on Major League rosters very soon.

I personally find the Futures Game to be a better game than the MLB A.S. Game; not the party MLB's A.S.
Game is. These kids are trying to make the big time. Like NCAA Football, as an example, which IS more exciting, action packed, a quicker game, with many more types of Offenses/Defensive strategies, plays, and Kids who are playing balls out, not stepping out of bounds to avoid getting hit, rather reeling off the additional yards by going head first into a wall....
or looking directly into the eye of the storm....

NEW YORK -- Impressive slugger Peter O'Brien and talented right-hander Luis Severino have been tabbed to represent the Yankees at this year's SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday.

O'Brien will play for the U.S. team and Severino will be in uniform for the World team in the July 13 contest at Target Field in Minnesota. The U.S. Team has won each of the last four Futures Games.

The 24-year-old O'Brien has been showcasing his raw power at Double-A Trenton, where he entered play on Tuesday with 15 home runs and 35 RBIs in 42 games, owning a .228 (37-for-162) batting average.

O'Brien has seen time at catcher, first base, right field and designated hitter this season, with the organization looking to find a place to keep his bat moving through the pipeline.

A second-round pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, O'Brien batted .321 (36-for-112) with 10 homers and 19 RBIs in 30 games with Class A Advanced Tampa before being promoted in early May.

The 20-year-old Severino was 3-2 with a 2.79 ERA in 14 starts for Class A Charleston this season, hurling 67 2/3 innings with 62 hits, 24 runs (21 earned), 15 walks and 70 strikeouts.

A product of the Dominican Republic who signed with the Yankees organization in 2012, Severino is currently with Tampa, where he has made one start. He is ranked as the Yankees' No. 9 prospect by MLB.com.

Good opportunity to see the Yanx Top Prospects in action....on MLB TV, game time 1 hour from now, ie, 2pm. (ref: thread #5)....be there or be square....?
