2015-16 Roster - Is it finished?

Olshey has more than $20 million in cap space to play with; I doubt this roster is finished.

I'm still thinking Kaman gets moved. I know the whole mentor thing, but I think that process with Meyers is done and Chris' mentoring doesn't fit the other players we have.

Look for a playoff team needing a backup our 3rd string center to swap a pick and filler to us.
It could be he's waiting for Aug 25th, so he can include one of the players he traded for in June.

You realize that everything you suggest has no chance of happening? If we can't keep our good free agents what makes you think we could attract Durant to a shitty roster? We're not bad enough to get the #1 pick, so our chances of winning the lotto will be like 4%. The Wizards will match Beals Max offer sheet especially if they don't get KD and 3 guys that sit on the end of the bench won't get us a top 10 pick. And Bogut is worth way more than the MLE and wouldn't take a pay cut to be a 3rd stringer. Plus we won't be able to trade Hendo next offseason because he'll be a free agent. And a team just hands us a top 5 pick for bench players? Never gonna happen.
You gotta stop with this 2K stuff. Nothing you suggest will ever happen if it's even possible through the CBA.

Bro... You can't even do that on 2K! The CPU Durant would laugh his ASS off!

I can't think of any team out there that is giving us an asset for Kaman. Sure if we can get a pick we do it but I don't see any team with a need for a 33 year old limited minute big man making $5 million. He's in the same boat as Hendo. Overpaid on an expiring contract but a guy who could provide minutes to a desperate team.

If during the season a contender has an injury or whatnot and wants to give us a second round pick for either player I bet we do it. They aren't worth more than their contracts right now. Both players are good in the locker room so there's no need to try and get them out of town. Both could be contributors for us if we want to try to be more competitive in games next year.

we need a really good small forward like demar or terrence ross. i would even make a trade for otto porter.

So then...here is the part where you say who you think the team would trade for Porter, explain why the Wizards would want to trade the guy who is currently slated to be their starting SF for whatever it is we would send them, and explain how that deal would bring us closer to being a contender.

Ready? Go!

um, so you are telling me they rather have otto over durant

You may also want to mention that Porter is local to DC....

My thinking is that there are lots of teams that want to be well below the cap, so at the deadline Kaman and our $$ will be looking VERY good.

Why the hell would they get rid of Porter right now because they have a chance at Durant next year? If Durant comes they'll just bring Porter off the bench.

I think this is our roster going into October camp. I also doubt that Olshey can pull a rabbit from a hat and combine any of these guys (at this point) and turn them into legitimate future starter to go with Lillard and Vonleh. This is it till mid-season/trade deadline.

Only changes will be competition for 3rd PG between Frazier and Pressey (I predict Pressey). Not sure about Cliff Alexander either.

Daniel Diez is our only "future / stash-away" player - 2nd round pick that has only signed in Europe. And I think he might become "really" good.

Depth Chart 7/29/15 as I see it:
PG Lillard / McCollum / Pressey
SG Henderson / McCollum / Crabbe / Montero
SF Aminu / Crabbe / Harkless / Connaughton
PF Davis / Vonleh / Alexander
C Leonard / Plumlee / Kaman

Why does everyone seem to think that DeRozen is available?? He's the centerpiece on a very good Raptor team.
Because the Raptors have indicated that they are hesitant to pay him the max salary that he will undoubtedly command next summer, particularly considering how much larger the max salary will be once the cap jumps. He's likely to command a contract starting at around $27M,

just kind of a visceral reaction b/c I don't think DeRozan's all that and a bag of chips. Yes, he's a good player, but the difference between him and Henderson is not a hugely-efficient young center playing at the highest levels of basketball (never trade big for small?) AND a "couple picks".

Did I mention also that he has a player option for next year, where he can cut his 9.5M salary and get upwards of 20M as an all-star SG? So we're trading potentially 7 years of Plumlee and a "couple picks" for a potential 1-year rental of a high-usage Shooting Guard who can't shoot (I draw your attention to the shooting % difference between DeRozan and "can't play offense" Aminu). Would I like to swap Henderson for DeRozan? Sure, that could help a little. Is it worth adding Plumlee or future picks to do so? Hell no. And worth adding BOTH? Once again....for the love of all that is Good and Holy, why?!

One would think that the general perception of the talent gap between Derozan and Henderson is relatively significant, considering one is slated to get a max deal next summer, and the other one just got included as salary filler on a trade of a lottery pick for a one-year rental.

However, if you're not high on DeRozan, I could understand not being in favor of a deal like this. But that's not unreasonable value for an all-star wing in his prime.

Why are you so high on Derozan, other than his future earnings and his selection as an all-star? What are the relatively significant parts of the talent gap? I posted comparisons to both Aminu and Henderson (both of whom have been picked apart by this board for their shortcomings) and he doesn't really blow either of them out of the water other than counting stats (due pretty heavily to a high usage rate). He was an all-star in 2014, but last year didn't make it over the likes of Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague and broken Dwayne Wade.

Like I said, decent player on a decent contract right now, but nowhere (IMO) close to being Plumlee and/or multiple picks better than Henderson, even if he stuck around for 4 years. Since he's likely a UFA next summer, there's no WAY that I'd give picks AND a good player for him.

In summary: DeRozan would cost us significant talent to acquire. He would either be a meaningless one year rental - or we would have to grossly over-pay next summer to keep him and lose any hope of making other improvements. At best, we see marginal short-term improvement with no hope of major improvement for the rest of the decade and beyond.

No. Just no.
