The Big Buck has truly turned into a DT more than a DE. Buckner is 6'7 and 298 ish.... Cowart gives up size and weight to him first, and is true DE by his frame. If we were blessed to get him, I would even love to see him cover that 15 yard and under 3rd down area we've been getting slammed on with the pass due to his speed at the LB spot! Cowart is an edge guy that will get to the QB and cause havoc. He's not a DT though. He's a shorter version of Dion Jordan.
you really think Cowart is going to be dropping into coverage 70% of the time like Dion did and Washington does?
He's stated part of the reason he's interested in Oregon is that they know how to beef him up for the NFL... Big Buck is one of many examples of this. Last summer between his HS Jr & Sr years, Byron was already 15 lbs heavier then Dion ever was at UO & about the same weight DeForest was when he played the other DE spot as a College Freshman... the same position he's still playing today that you're now calling a DT. I find it very curious how you're inflating Buckner's weight over what the school's official weight for him is (290). Remember just a month back when with zero evidence to point to you were insisting it's the coaches thats are "always" inflating players weights so as to game the opponent? That the coaches are always lying trying to get others to believe their DLine is bigger then they are

If Oregon is lucky enough to land Cowart's commitment & at the same time doesn't fire it's DC & DL coach and install a completely new system as you've been constantly calling for, I'll wager whatever that he's a hand on the ground Down Lineman playing the same spots DeForest and Arik currently flip flop on. After all, thats where he's stated Aiken & Pellum have been recruiting him for. Regardless of where he commits, I expect he'll weigh North of what "Big Buck" was listed his Freshman year (265).
