Could be level of competition in regards to Utah football possibly. Still, wouldn't mind him as an OLB.

Someone to redshirt I suppose.

Most Freshman Redshirt. With returning upper classman at the Drop End and OLB spots of French, Coleman, Carriger, Prevot, Heard & Hollins, it would figure anyone shooting for a rotation spot their Freshman year faces long odds. Not as long as at RB but thats a steep depth chart to climb

Nonetheless in other news, Texas RB Chris Warren dropped by over the weekend on an Unofficial Visit. He's supposed to announce a top 5 shortly. His dad (Chris Warren Sr.) was an All Pro RB for the Seahawks

Oh for the love of god. Fucking Florida goes 4-8 and they get him?

maybe them, maybe FSU or someone else... but thats always been the case. Rivals had an interview with him last week where he stated he still is planning an Oregon OV but :dunno:

we will see where the chips fall in February

Cowart could put on a Kentucky hat tomorrow to go to football practice and the college sites would say they were trending now. I think this kid knows that and is having some fun.

Sure he could go to Florida, never see a national championship during his college stay or he could come to Oregon and compete for one for the next four years. Florida will not overtake Bama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia. A&M, or South Carolina for the foreseeable future.

FSU might make the most sense if he wants to stay closer to home, but DAMN the ACC is so weak, there's FSU and that's it.....

According to Adam Gorney of rivals, Ca DE Keisean Lucier-South plans on taking an OV for the Stanford weekend.

Kirk Merritt, Canton Kuamatule, Ryan Newsome, Keisean Lucier-South, Zach Okun, Jacob Breeland, Travis Waller, Taj Griffin, Byron Cowart, Russell Ude, Rasheem Green & Josh Sweat are at least rumored to be on OVs for the Stanford weekend.

doubtful that they all make it, but it's shaping up to be a bigger recruiting weekend then any other I can recall

Holy damn dude.

Also, it's shame we are gonna lose Cowart. Lots of people saying his mom is sick(AGAIN WITH THE SICK MOM) and he will stay in Florida to play with CeCe. So much for "no package deal"...

Taj griffin out for the season with a torn ACL. That's tough for him :/

Grab lovette soon for the wr! Heard he may commit soon.

I always like to have a good stable of running backs but we already have Marshall, Tyner, and Freeman. One could easily say that their is log jam of talent at that position. I would think that someone would become unhappy and transfer at that point.

Maybe we could get him and medically redshirt him if not 100% healthy?

That can work too. Red shirting Taj would work. I just want Malik to be RS frosh at WR. Plus we deny USC another prospect.

thats the buzz. Also hearing Newsome is who they want the most for the final WR spot... need 4 speed

That's cool to hear. Also, I heard Marcus Lewis loves us thanks to DAT and the prospect of playing early. a 6'2 corner in all passing league? Yes please!

So thanks to Kenny Hill being a baller, think that will deter Murray or any TAMU recruits we're targeting?

Lovette commits, Cowart names us leader but wants to visit for UCLA game which he can't because it is in UCLA not oregon. so Not really a leader for us.

Uhhh wait what.

Hasn't the tea leaves indicated Cowart bowing into pressure and staying at home?

he's 17, whats in his head this moment? Keep that in mind

Interviewer- Tell me about Florida, are they still your leader?

BC- "Uh Oregon, Oregon is still leading"

he goes on to say nice things about various schools & how he may announce the end of next month (Sept 28th) or may push that back. If he visits (& I'd guess he will) I like our chances. Lists his schools 1 Oregon 2 FSU 3 UF 4 Bama

hearing Safety Marvell Tell, DB Micah Abernathy WR Ryan Newsome & Stanford DT commit Rex Manu may be among visitors this weekend. Also hearing Oregon pulled the plug on LB Cassius Peat's planned OV. Oregon commits Calvin Throckmorton & PJ Locke will be taking in the game on his OV.

Wait, why isn't Peat visiting?

very often it can be the staff feeling very good about a prospect at similar position, that they rate higher (I.E. the WR whose visit was supposed to be with Lovette, and then the staff pushed it back, and then Lovette committed. and probably Newsome was rated higher on their board as well.

Wait, why isn't Peat visiting?

to add to what Wheels said, it may also be that Oregon found something out that they didn't like. Could be they don't feel his interest is sincere and he just wants to take in a big game. Could be a character issue. Could be a lot of things. But since schools are prohibited from talking about individual recruits, we'll only know what the recruits relay. In this case, Cassius relayed that Oregon told him he wasn't invited to attend this weekend's game which probably doesn't bode well for the potential of him becoming a Duck... next!

Our island connections must be building a nice pipeline! Think about this, we could have Tui, Austin, Manu, Canton and Mafileo all on the D line by this time next year!

Prehm thinks we flip dt rex manu

speculation is that like Canton he might not qualify getting into Stanford.

Wonder if just scheduled OV for Tevis Barlett (10/17 vs Washington) might have something to do with Peat's cancelled visit?

Not sure about that with peat because we have the lb spots, i'm hoping for good news witha high board recruit. Other option is we saw somthing we didn't like.
