Philip Morris sponsored our non smoking high school so there are ways to make it happen, its just the way the money goes through a non attention drawing intermediate.

How many athletes are being funneled to UO from said High School?

rivals rumblings that Kirk Merritt will be announcing over this weekend... most speculation is that he's headed to Eugene

If Kirk quacks, on paper this class is about as good as they've ever landed at WR & DLine

What I'm trying to say Wheels is Oregon needs a designated BIG TIME sports high school that's a feeder into Oregon and even OSU. Students could even live on those campuses much like prep schools back east who are sponsored by big time companies looking for tax right offs.

Never claimed you said otherwise. I only responded to why who was suggested, couldn't set it up

We can't let Paulo go to Nebraska. We want that kid so bad

My gut feeling is Oregon's value on high school sports isn't close to the emphasis the south and southwest place on athletic development. That said, I know many Oregonians as a state populous are getting fed up with Oregon High Schools not feeding top athletic talent into our colleges and not being able to recruit strongly elsewhere. The times are changing and I think just like Ducks expects top notch talent in Autzen, the state as a whole will too. I see massive potential with Hawaii and Samoa and other Pacific Islands sending their high schools kids here for school to get better exposure and also to become a back door feeder to OSU and our Ducks!

Companies like Columbia Sports or for that matter Intel could foster an Athletic/ Technical school much like the Benson Tech days of old, but far better financed and with live in dorms and high end facilities and staff too.

A killer prep school for Oregon!

Leiato & Kane are being projected at LB and Cumberlander may start off there as a Drop End. It makes some sense that Chinander would be listed as their lead recruiter. But he didn't make the trip to Hawaii after the Pac 12 Championship to land Rex Manu and secure Canton who was wavering towards taking a trip to USC. And he wasn't on the in-home trip last Tuesday when the landed Gary Baker. Guess who was? Hint hint, it's the same guy who is listed as the lead recruiter for all the Down Lineman recruits.

the disconnect between your claims and what the commits are actually saying in rivals interviews about Pellum and Aiken is just more comedy

These are not my thoughts, they are 24/7's , J Hops and now Bleachers who also reprinted them just this week. Call them idiots and BS'ers, I'm sure they'll care!

no ways, Belchers Rebelch too  Way to buttress your theories with swiss cheese

There is only one such person deluding themselves saying the DC & D Line coach aren't heavily involved in recruiting this outstanding D Line class. I've read quotes from player after player about who recruited them, they all seem pretty sure Aiken & Pellum were front and center... but what do recruits know about who recruited them compared to a fine journalistic outlet like BR via your funhouse mirrors? The biggest stretch of your ridiculous convolutions to give those coaches zero credit is how you've got Chins closing the deal when he isn't even in the same state (let alone the same room) when the commitment comes. What does it say about the supposed "lead recruiter" if he's not along on in-home visits?

the truth of the matter is that the coaches overlap quite a bit in the recruiting. Helfrich visiting John Houston last week isn't an indication that he's going to try to make him into a QB, it's that the staff tries to develop multiple relationships with the recruit. Chinander may have been an initial contact, but the entire defensive staff recruits each player projected to play that side of the ball. In the end the prospect commits to the school/program, but it's ludicrous to think that they do so without feeling pretty strongly about their position coach.

I don't know about the rest of the board, but DLine play last season was pretty solid and the recruiting there this cycle has been great. I wish I could say the same for the Linebackers... guessing you think we should blame Aiken for that too?

Many signs pointing Paulo to Nebraska, some on Uluave going ti Cal
Where did Nebraska come from. We have distance and winning record. Besides his parents can drive up to Eugene for games.

No way we lose Paulo. As for Ulauve, don't care at this point. He seems so anti Duck for some reason

some words of wisdom from ESPN's Ted Miller in Friday's Pac 12 blog mailbag...

Oregon is never going to win the majority of its battles for 5-star prospects over USC/UCLA. Never. So get over it.

Why? Primarily, it's an issue of location. The vast majority of 5-star prospects on the West Coast play high school football near USC/UCLA. Further, the Trojans have the huge advantage of being perhaps the preeminent college football program in the nation, winning 11 national titles while producing the most NFL first-round draft picks and NFL Hall of Famers.

Oregon lost the 2010 national title game to Auburn on a last-second field goal. It whipped unbeaten defending national champion Florida State by 39 points in the first College Football Playoff semifinal. It beat Wisconsin in the 2012 Rose Bowl and Kansas State in the 2013 Fiesta Bowl. Oregon has won at least 10 games and finished ranked in the top-11 for seven consecutive years. It has finished ranked in the top five in four of the past five years.

Oregon just needs to keep doing what it's been doing for the past six or seven years, which is trying to ... well ... win the freaking day. That probably includes a steady, but incremental, improvement in the quality of recruits. But becoming obsessed with 5-star recruits is the worst thing the Ducks could do. It is the path to failure.

not saying he's going there as I'd be just guessing, but I have read that he's got a long time relationship with Riley

With or without Paulo, I really like this recruiting class. As long as we land Merritt, I'm happy!

What in the hell can Riley say to a top OT? "I'm a great guy, people like me, and I'll never beat you up for losing 5 games a year?" There is no way Riley is coaching Nebraska in 3 years! This kid would be foooooooolish to go play for this coach! Have Riley as a neighbor, head of your PTA, absolutely, but not a top tier coach!

It a move no one saw coming Paulo to Utah. Only Moi (who I feel will stick with Wazzu) and Uluave (who may go to Cal) are our targets left.

...that we know of

It's uncharted territory for Duck fans to have the class pretty much filled going into signing day... we're used to being really anxious about something or other. Lots of big athletic lineman on both sides of the ball. Incredible speed being added at the skill spots. Pretty sure Waller is the highest rated QB Oregon has ever landed.

I would have loved to see them add a stud at Drop End, but at the same time I'm pretty optimistic about Hollins and with French returning needs are hardly pressing there. I expect next years class to be loaded with great LBs looking to fill the impending voids

I believe we turned over every rock before offering Waller and that was a CRIME! We were very lucky that this kid didn't tell us to shove it and go to ND or Arizona. This kid has the "IT" quality and players just like Merritt gravitate to him and the Ducks have been rewarded already for it. Waller will win us a national championship before he graduates! I didn't even say that about Marcus who was hands down the best QB Oregon will ever have!

Uhhhhh

He said he loved oregon

Called Nebraska outstanding

And commits to Utah

Wut

Something tells me we just had our big NSD moment with Merritt's commitment. I wish there was at least one big gun left for us, but credit to helf for leaving nothing to chance.

#15 recruiting class, with a lot of 3* who look pretty underrated on film. This was a great recruiting cycle!

Look, we all want to be top 10, but until we finish and take home the natty, this is where we are going to be every year.

Go Ducks!

In the last couple years I've seen recruits who are trying to get their one time in the lime light moments say five different schools are their favorites, then commit, de-commit and finally go to a school that no one could have seen them enrolling with. This is as much ESPN, and the recruiting sites faults as it is these immature young people looking for attention. So of course recruiting has become a spectacle on the level of a weekly supermarket checkout tabloid. Think about how many coaches wasted time recruiting Paulo when this kid knew all along he was going to Utah. How many top tier kids have named Oregon a favorite and never even seen our school? Byron Cowart and Arden Key this year come to mind. How many kids come to Oregon for a NIKE product grab and to be able to tell their friends about the state of the art facilities?

Oregon needs to spend their time finding a Junipero Serra High School feeder program just like USC has and lock it down too. The school that gave us Eric Dargan and Avery Patterson ,Pittsburg High School seems like an under the radar starting point to me and it's out of the SoCal Bruin/ Trojan anything goes recruiting zone!

Nemec tweeted that we'll be in for a fun one tomorrow. Not sure what that means, one would hope Houston or at least Taufu or maybe Adams. seems unlikely to be talking about Moi or Uluave's announcemnt.

Wouldn't shock me if Green or Cowart said Quack! But I wont hold my breath either!

These young men are all trying to out do one another it seems.

Nemec stuff just BS for an article, locke less than 24 hours after reaffirming his commitment now pretty much now gone over to texas

It'd be kinda funny if it happened just so I can lol at grown ass men freaking out about a 17 year olds decision on message boards and social media ;)

PJ locke officially flips to TExas, shades of Cottrell... except we have less time to look at other options.
