Well, I don't think he should have endorsed Clinton and he technically is already going to leave the Democratic party since he is an Independent in the senate. But since he did pledge to endorse her I agree, it would definitely have looked bad if he switched parties and continued to run against her. I do think it would have helped change the party/election system, which is very important to me.

I think that he changed the system much more by pushing Hillary and the D Party platform to the left than he would have by running as the G Party candidate and getting a few percent of the vote.

This.

Thanks Obama.

Haha. I am actually a big Obama fan, but I still had to laugh at this. I'm going to miss Obama as president and think his legacy will grow with time. Plus, I got laid by a hot Korean on Obama's initial election night. That helps, I suppose.

Once again, I don't believe for a second that Clinton and the Democratic party will actually stand by what they've said. If Sanders had switched to the Green party in the last month, I'm positive he'd get more than just a few percent of the vote. Also, if you do trust Clinton for some reason, it would likely push her left even more because less Sanders supporters would fall in line with Clinton simply because Trump is a ridiculous candidate.

But, in doing so, Sanders would almost assure a Trump presidency. I think he is smart enough to know that. And I applaud him for the restraint. If I were in his shoes I would be tempted to make a run at Hillary. But, he is being smart because he knows that if he challenged Hillary from a 3rd party, Trump would become president. You can call me the anti-Mags.

I wonder, though, if Sanders were running Green, if some of the people planning on voting Trump because they fear Hilary would be more willing to "throw their vote away" on a non-democrat not named Trump (ie, Johnson).

IMO, the absolute best thing for this country right now would be a legitimate 4-candidate race.

That's a valid point. I personally dislike Clinton, but also think Trump is a human garbage pile. I think that if this election were a 4 candidate race, that neither Trump or Hillary would win. It's just not going to happen.

If I can get enough of you to donate I'll run for president.

This is a 4 candidate race. It's just that 3 of the candidates are unqualified (which 3, of course, is a matter of some disagreement).

See, you keep opening this door. You said "laid by" not "I nailed" or something like that. Plus, I thought you went to Mags election party and I think he's part Korean (his hotness is not for me to judge). It's been so long I can't recall.

I kid, I kid.

@magnifier661 is a 10, the glorious bastard!

Come home big dog! We want you to join this low energy cuckfest (aka the OT section during June-October)!

I suppose it is a 4 candidate race. Just not sure 2 of them have any chance in hell to do anything aside from fucking up their own constituents. It is unfortunate and sad, but part of our current reality. I don't have the answers though and won't pretend to. I'm not sure how we get out of the current hole we are in.

Once again, I don't believe for a second that Clinton and the Democratic party will actually stand by what they've said.

I disagree. What will actually happen is that a lot of the platform won't be enacted, not because Clinton is against it, but because the Republicans are against it. So Clinton will have to make significant compromises, and you'll think that's proof she was lying. But reality is that Bernie would have had to make similar compromises if he had been elected. And objectively, he probably wouldn't have gotten as much done as Clinton will, because he's not as good (or bad, if you prefer) a politician.

If Sanders had switched to the Green party in the last month, I'm positive he'd get more than just a few percent of the vote.

We'll never know, of course. But I think that if he saw a path to victory as a Green, he would have taken it.

I don't think a Trump presidency would be the end of the world, or this country. I'm absolutely not a fan of Trump, but I can say the exact same thing about Clinton. I'm going to be disappointed no matter which one of them wins.

Haha. I think the vagueness is what makes it funny. And it wasn't Mags. It was a shit show of a human named Brenda. That was, oddly, my third Brenda. Given my history of terrible garbage girls, maybe I should just be gay.

Of course Sanders would have had to make compromises, but I'm sure he'd try a hell of a lot harder to enact progressive policies than Clinton will.

I don't think he could have won as a Green, I just think it would have made more of a splash in the waters of establishment politics.

Also, if you do trust Clinton for some reason, it would likely push her left even more because less Sanders supporters would fall in line with Clinton simply because Trump is a ridiculous candidate.

This is probably not correct. If Sanders was on her left, the logical maneuver would have been to move to the center to peel off non-insane republican voters. She's doing that anyway, but if the left was committed to Bernie, there would be no reason to try to fight on that battlefield. She wouldn't be getting your vote over Bernie no matter what she did, right? So why bother?

It would look like he has principles. Enough that running as a democrat to win was for the same reason he'd continue to run as a Green.

You are probably right that he'd try harder. On the other hand, he'd likely be less effective. So again, do you want actual progress, or do you just want to make a statement?

I don't think he could have won as a Green, I just think it would have made more of a splash in the waters of establishment politics.

So you want him to lose to make a statement? Well, then I have good news for you! He's already done that, mission accomplished.

But you seem dissatisfied somehow...
