The Dems did this to themselves.

They propped up Trump early on because they thought he'd be easier to beat.

They rigged the primary and forced a candidate on the public that most people don't like.

They made this bed and now they have to lie in it.
not quite....WE have to lie in that bed now

If you didn't have to fill in little dots on the ballot Trump would've lost big.....the voters that got him in probably couldn't spell his name...America...you just failed again big time! Not going to change my address though

You know, not to single you out riverman, but that's the exact sentiment that got Trump elected. The vote in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, etc. was a big old middle finger from the "basket of deplorables" in the "fly-over states" to the liberal intelligentsia who love to make fun of the dummies who live outside of the cool kids' neighborhoods.

This was always a lose, lose election for me...now govt has been reduced to reality TV....good luck with all that..lost a shitload of money from my investments this morning already....I'm not cheering

Once Wall Street gets through fleecing the folks who are wetting their pants over Trump's election, the stock market will undoubtedly rebound.

Yup, and while the dems were labeling all Trump supporters as racists and bigots, they were neglecting to realize that a lot of people voting for him don't even like him, but they're tired of the establishment and they see him as anti-establishment. THAT is why the polls didn't tell the whole story.

I live in the country...was born and raised in dairy country in Iowa....those are my roots......I'm related to a lot of those folks so I can make fun of them without any sense of superiority at all......I always put Trump at the top of the deplorable list and he's a rich New Yorker

Good point, the Clinton supporter smugness was getting unbearable, that kind of attitude is really motivating to try and beat. Ive always been uncomfortable with depicting Trump supporters and knuckle draggers.

I wanted Obama to win the 1st time because I thought it would quite the sore losers from the W years. But no. It didn't.

So given the choice of sore winners or sore losers, no difference, I'll go with sore losers if it means we have a better government.

As I said, I wasn't really aiming my comment at you in particular. I just think there was a whole lot of backlash from the people in the central part of the country who really didn't give a flying fuck that Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were telling them they should vote for someone who was promising to close the coal mines and steel mills in an area already starved for jobs.

Hey Denny...remember the long arguments I had with you over how you can't trust polls? Well guess what!

I"M NOT A CLINTON SUPPORTER! There were more than 2 candidates, but you couldn't hate Trump around here without somebody making you try to defend Hillary......that was also unbearable but hey.....folks love their team sports...I knew my vote would never win from the start

The polls were probably right, but they didn't identify who would turn out.

Interesting about the polls, though.

You could see how things changed toward the end by where the candidates and their surrogates were focusing their attention. Their internal polls told them were to go.

Trump was out in states Obama won. Crooked Hillary was also out in states Obama won. A few weeks earlier, her campaign was talking about expanding her victory into states Romney won.

I also pointed out a long time ago that the assumption that Obama's electoral map was the starting point for the election. Obama's a freak, a rock star, who got a lot of people who normally don't vote to go out and vote. Clinton couldn't get many to get off their ass to do anything to support her.

The starting point for the electoral map turns out to have been W's 2004 map.

yeah, like me.....I'm not part of any poll that has been taken.....just like Truman Dewey...polls this election were way off the mark....was listening to Stephanopoulis talking about it today....on a similar note...the local library levy failed for the first time ever here by a 64% no vote.....guess that's the knuckle draggers fault too.

Clinton came into this campaign with so much baggage that really the GOP didn't have to spend much time or money digging up dirt...they had a ton from the Bill era already.....I knew this would be a shit storm election...the job no longer attracts talent

One thing that I hope both parties learn from this election is that the primaries need to be more effective at winnowing out bad candidates. We ended up with two of them this time. Trump may have won, but there were a lot of people who held their nose and voted for him simply because they were pissed at the direction the country was going in. Hillary was handed the nomination by a corrupt Democratic Party system that fixed it for her because it was "her turn". Bernie gave her a total pass on the emails, which proved to be a good part of her ultimate undoing.

In the end, I couldn't stomach voting for either of them. I voted for Johnson, however, from the security of a good old Blue state where I knew may protest vote wouldn't have the least impact upon Hillary getting Oregon's electoral votes. I was hoping for Hillary to win and the Republicans to hang onto Congress. I figured that gridlock might be the least damaging to our country. I, like all of the pundits and pollsters, didn't see the Trump Train coming until it ran over the electoral map. Trump has no qualifications to lead this county and a whole mess of baggage, but he's the president like it or not. All I can say is that the American political system has given the Republicans the keys to the country. They'll have no one to blame but themselves in four years if they screw it up.

But look who she was running against. The second worst candidate ever.

On the other hand, Democrats set the bar really low.

I think that most of the people on my facebook feed who are extremely upset are women. They got so wrapped up in the "first woman President" romance that they didn't stop to realize that she was awful. I'm totally fine with having a woman President, but why would you want the first woman President to be a total shit show?

Obama wasn't perfect. He had his flaws and he had his advantages, but at least we can say that the dude was classy. There weren't any scandals. So when people look back at the first black President, they can say that he was a good role model. He got some things right, and he got some things wrong, but he wasn't an embarrassment by any means.

Hillary is an embarrassment. She's corrupt. She's dishonest. She's the very definition of the establishment. Why would anyone want her to be the first woman President?

admit it you are a secret Clinton lover! I know who you voted for, I used the comment to talk about her supporters in general.

Any criticism Ive tried to voice about Hillary to her supports has just been met with, so you want Trump to win? It was getting to the point where they felt she was untouchable and above reproach, partly because Trump was considered to be so bad. Any campaign that bets on the crappynes of the other candidate more than the awesomeness of their own is destine to fail.

nah....you don't.....I voted Gary Johnson and planned to most of the campaign...in my view everybody lost this election....Trump was the absolute worst choice in a long history of bad choices for president.....I'm not shocked at the outcome...just disgusted with this election. I voted for change....anybody voting Dems or GOP candidates were just recycling another season of divorce court....our govt is stalemated by a horrible lack of cooperation in Congress....now I'm really more worried about who fills the Supreme Court than the presidency....George W Bush was a puppet....now we have another one....Pence is the adult in his cabinet in the same way Cheney was with Bush

If all they want is a woman, Condaleeza Rice would win.

Exactly this.

Exactly this.
wrong......and from a guy who actually introduced me to my Libertarian vote....to agree that I voted and loved Hillary shows me you've got serious tunnel vision....already being a divisive Libertarian...thanks for the unity

I just heard a coworker legitimately, honestly claim:

I think the Russians hacked our election. Trump spent the past several months talking about how the election was rigged so the Democrats would have to swear over and over how fair and secure the election is. Then he had the Russians hack the vote counters and flip the results to Trump, and the Democrats can't say anything about it because they've been so adamant about election security.
