Lebron is now the all time playoff scoring leader.

  • 1. LeBron James - 5995
  • 2. Michael Jordan - 5987
  • 3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 5762
  • 4. Kobe Bryant - 5640
  • 5. Shaquille O'Neal - 5250
  • 6. Tim Duncan - 5172
  • 7. Karl Malone - 4761
  • 8. Jerry West - 4457
  • 9. Tony Parker - 4012
  • 10. Larry Bird - 3897
That's extra impressive because he started on a genuinely shitty team. I guess Jordan joined a Bulls team that wasn't so great, but LeBron has TWICE joined a Cavs team that was in the basement.

We have to wait a week? I was hoping the finals would start Sunday.

Honestly, is it really good for the NBA to have the same two teams (regardless of our personal feelings about them, which is another story)? I was not following NBA during the 80s when the Lakers and Celtics seemed to be in the Finals every year. I know some people said Larry Bird and Magic Johnson brought out the best in one another. But was it really good overall to keep seeing the same two teams? Thoughts?

As individual teams, there were there a lot but they only played each other 3 times in that decade. What made it much more interesting is that during that stretch, the Rockets, 76'ers and Pistons were also very good. The difference is, you don't Moses Malone, Ralph Sampson or Isaiah Thomas leaving their team and going to play for the Lakers or Celtics.

As stated before, one series does not save a season. A great 1% does not mask a crappy 99%. Garbage car with a great paint job....not interested.
I'm not interested in a car like that but a lot of people can do mechanical work and have no clue how to do a good paint job.

Go to a car show and you'll see thousands of dollars spent on engines and wheels and stuff sitting in a wavy car with a Maaco paint job.

This is why the rat rod (patina) trend started. The pro rat rod people will never admit it.

Also...

I've sat through shitty movies that had great endings and it salvaged the movie to a degree.

This series is going to be fantastic. Matchup everybody wanted and knew was going to happen, but oh well. This is how it's supposed to be, can't wait!
Your talking about Nashville and Pittsburgh? The Stanley cup Finals?

We did, in fact, have the Rockets, who had been in the finals in '81, lose '82 MVP Moses Malone in free agency to the 76ers, who had been in the finals in '82, to form a superteam in '82-'83.

But we can go ahead and continue to pretend that Durant's move to the Warriors was unprecedented...

A team that won 73 games added the 2nd best player in the league. Sure they are great...they better be. There is no competition. They may be great but if you put so many great players on one team it really isn't good basketball because it eliminates competition. Great competition makes for great basketball. Otherwise, it's just a skills exhibition....boring.
Hear! Hear!

Yes....Finals in '81. The 82 Rockets team won all of 46 games and was no where near having a 3-1 lead in the WCF.....they were eliminated in the 1st round. Meanwhile, the 76'ers in 1982 were 2nd in their division and 3rd in their conference before making it to the finals....hardly a team that had won 73 games.

Of course it's not precisely identical. Still, MVP, prior year's finals loser, free agency, super-team, champion. Several significant parallels exist.

I guess. Philly was just no where near the level of GS the year they lost in the Finals. An aging Dr. J, solid PG in Maurice Cheeks, defensive minded Caldwell Jones at center, defensive minded PF Bobby Jones, Lionel Hollins at SG....only one player on that teams averaged more than 16.5 ppg. No where near a super team.

If the Blazers had drafted their way to a 73-win team and then added Durant in free agency, this forum would be jubilant, love Durant and have a deep, deep contempt for anyone who dared suggest that the Blazers were "cheating," "making the game boring" and "nothing too impressive because of course a 73-win team adding a superstar should be good."

We should just admit it's jealousy on this forum, nothing else.

I do enjoy one person speaking for everyone...

I don't care about how many all stars they have. I don't like them because they are all dick heads.

I loved the A's dynasties. And they were almost entirely home grown, with the addition of people considered over the hill or misfits.

You don't speak for me. Give your opinion, please, your right, but it is yours and yours only.

So you would dislike the Blazers if they had drafted the team the Warriors did and added Durant as a free agent?

My contention is that people would be singing a different tune if everything the Warriors had experienced were instead being experienced by the Blazers. That's my opinion. I'm not "speaking for" anyone, you can feel free to disagree. And I'll be skeptical.

The Big Red Machine won two World Series, after losing to the upstart "hairs" from Oakland.

Who gives a fuck.
What are you talking about. You are going to see a series with some of the best players in the game and arguably the best player to ever play it battle it out. Are you a fan of the game of basketball? How could you NOT give a fuck about future hall of famers meeting up in the finals?

smack talk and sports rivalries tend to go together.....and we have a weird Greg Oden complex so there's that
