Is there a "programming session" (ala Clockwork Orange) where Blazer fans are expected to enthusiastically applaud every time a Neil Olshey press conference is shown on a huge HDTV screen?

No but the Rookies gotta dance. That always programs me to fall in love with players like a Soccer Mom.

I went to the Wes Matthews/Luke Babbitt one. Wes won Player of the Game. Babbitt danced the Dougie and it was embarrassing.
I think that's the one where I started a "DE-FENSE!" chant...

Okay can we skip it then and choose to have a 1 seed?

Seeding doesn't mean anything if we get swept with homecourt advantage. Look how awesome we did to get the 3rd seed and by far, we had the worst and most embarrassing playoff performance of all teams last season, which should have resulted in coaches and GMs getting fired and the team being overhauled (although it didn't so we are bound to repeat it).

The playoff performance we had last year was far more embarrassing and detrimental than missing the playoffs (and the team that did got Michael Porter Jr as a consolation prize). We didn't learn shit, otherwise, Neil Olshey would be on his ass right now.

But yeah, lets get hyped up for THAT.

So because we got swept as a 3 seed that means it's not better to have a 1 seed than an 8 seed? Seeding still matters. Michael Porter Jr. as a consolation prize? We don't even know if he'll be able to remain healthy, let alone be a good player. You just bought into his hype and think somehow he's some "prize". There's a reason he fell. I like who we got at 24, and think he has just as much potential for success as MPJ, or Jerome Robinson (he was picked 13, you probably don't know him).

I've said I think we should replace Stotts and Olshey. You don't come to this part of the forum enough if you don't know that. But to say the regular season doesn't matter is false.

If we get the #1 seed and get swept by #8 then yes...seeding and the regular season doesnt matter. If we lose in the playoffs right away after having a great regular season, the regular season was totally meaningless. There were no takeaways from this past loss.

Your saying "Dependant on results it doesn't matter"... Well you're not wrong, playoff results are what matters. But you're not accounting for how the regular season, including player development, confidence, momentum, and playoff positioning affect post-season success, all because of an outlier.

Yeah I don't get how someone can be a fan of a team with EL PRESIDENTE view of the game. It wouldn't be enjoyable at all to watch the games with his viewpoint. Every game during the season you're just like "Eh...cool we won...doesn't really matter since it's not the playoffs--next."

Granted right after getting swept I didn't really care what happened during the season. But that lasted only a few days and I actually really enjoyed last season looking back. I'm a big fan of watching the young players development so seeing Zach progress was very encouraging. He matched up and did fairly well (as well as you can expect a rook to do) against AD in the playoffs. Aminu and Ed were way over matched for AD but Zach held his own.

Its not an outlier if we have blown donkey dick every recent playoff series.

Watching development is cool when you are building a squad. I enjoy watching games casually like this. The blazers have been treading water and drowning in the playoffs. And making no adjustments.

We are at a critical point in the franchise. Lillard...first team All NBA....its time to go on a run with him. You know the expression "wasting his prime", that's what the blazers are doing by fucking up the playoffs. Without Playoff success, we are wasting our time.

Unless some teams get some major injuries (which I don't want) or we move to the eastern conference somehow our only real option is hope our guys progress. We're not getting a Lebron or KD to come to Portland. We have to hope for a trade or hit it big with our draft picks.

We got our super star pg at possibly the worst time in NBA history.

It's also the exact same roster that earned the 3rd seed in the Western Conference and won the most competitive division. It's also the same PG who made First Team All-NBA. Look at both sides of the coin, man.

Nah, he only likes tails.

Wait how is this going to happen on the 30th when the team plays a game the day before in Canada? That’s some tight scheduling.

Nvm it’s in Vancouver.

Wtf why isn't it being broadcast? Guess we'll have to hope for a shitty jumbo tron stream lol
I have never worked it. I meant I won't be there as a fan in forever.

Well obviously, you care about playoff success. In that case, which seed would you prefer we be? 1 or 8? Which seed would give us the best chance to win regardless of what happened last year?

We won a playoff series exactly two calendar years ago.
If you give GS a lot of shit over winning because of injuries, then you can't use this as a valid argument for the same reason.

At least at 8th seed it's not as disappointing to lose. If you are a 1 seed and lose, that is embarrassing
