Westbrook!

Westbrook has never been traded, and with that contract, he never will be. I'm cool with that. I'd love to see him spend his entire career in OCK winning nothing.

I said it during the 2013 playoffs, no team with Russell Westbrook as their PG will ever win an NBA championship. Given that they had been to the finals the year before and appeared to have a dynasty in the making with Durant (23), Westbrook (23), Harden (22) and Ibaca (22). I was practically laughed out of the forum. In the end, history will prove me right (and prove you to be a clueless fanboi).

That would be great, but do you REALLY think we can come in third? Talent wise?
Great point @HCP . With our talent, 3rd shouldn't even be part of the discussion. #1 or #2 is all we should be considering!

Ok, back to reality. CAN we come in third? Sure. LIKELY? Nope. I think we got 'lucky' and a lot of things fall our way last year. If anything, the West has gotten even tougher, and we've probably taken a half step back talent-wise (I think losing Ed will hurt us more than we think at the moment). I think this GM survey got it pretty close for the Blazers. No GM chose the Blazers to get third. Only 17% think we'll get 4th. Overall average lands us 6th or 7th. I'd say that fits about right.

To quote Michael Johnson, the 1996 Olympic gold medalist in the 200M & 400M -
"You don’t get a silver medal running for second. You get a silver medal running for first."

Great trade as well. Can’t believe that year, starting off with just the #4 pick, we got LA AND BRoy!
... And Stephen A Smith was telling everyone the Blazers had a bad draft that year - ""They look like they don't know what they're doing right now." Wow.

I said it on draft night, that I thought both Simons and Trent Jr. were steals at where they were selected. Trent Jr. will have a more immediate impact, but in the end, Simons could end up being the steal of the entire draft.

BNM
Agree with both (though I see "Trent becoming a solid rotation player" being much more likely than "Simons being a steal of the draft"--both awesome for where they were selected), though DAL being able to move up from 5 to get Doncic and Porter, Jr being there at 14 will likely be much more productive to their teams more quickly. I'm still really high on Doncic

Hey I know people dont like LMA around here now, but he was traded on draft night for Tyrus Thomas. Thats a similar best/worst trades. Least I know who Tractor Trailer is, I dont think Tyrus made it more the. 4-5 years...
I think Tyrus has waaaay more of an NBA career than Tractor, but I could be wrong. They're both more accomplished than Rafael Araujo.

Hell, Meyers Leonard is more accomplished than Rafael Araujo. Hell, Meyers accomplished as much in his rookie year as Araujo did in his entire career. I think we officially have a new benchmark for suckage. The next time someone starts bitching about Meyers, we can say, "could be worse, he could be Rafael Araujo".

I was too busy ingesting high-quality caloric material and listening to heckling obfuscators to do anything but eloquently state the status as I saw it at the time. Where's Roy now?

CHEEZY POOFS!

Or, to name another NCAA Tournament wonder going mid-lotto, the Black Irishman Patrick O'Bryant!

To be fair to everyone involved, at least UTH and TOR jettisoned him on his rookie contract. No 4/41M deals for Rafael...more's the pity.

Where's Roy now?

Same place as everyone else not named Aldridge who was picked before him:

Andrea Bargnani - GONE
Adam Morrison - GONE
Tyrus Thomas - GONE
Shelden Williams - GONE

At least Roy's career ended due to injuries. All of those other guys are out of the league because they flat out sucked and were shitty draft picks. Even with Roy's injuries, POR owned that fucking draft.

If only Meyers had sucked even worse... If only he could have been Araujo bad...

i think its more fun to look at it the other way - lottery picks who hit the lottery.

ie people who have no right at all being in the lottery or top5 whatever but were picked and then basically ghosted

To we overvalue Dame?
Other GM's certainly don't.

I don't think it's overvaluing him but when both Dame and the team stink it up in the playoffs they aren't going to get much love in polls like this going into the following season.
Dude's on a more-than-max contract (though not as "supermax" as he could be) and getting 1st-Team All-NBA...I'd say he's about properly "rated".

It appears other GM's don't recognize or endorse his 1st team honors?
This ok, I know it fuels Dame big time.

Do they respect Dame? I am sure they think he's a good player. But are they going to put him over some other highly visable, big market equivalent. Probably not. And they aren't going to change until we grab the Larry O'Brien trophy and shove it down their fucking throats....

Every new year we might as wdll get new 'chip' drawing tattooed on every player's shoulder.

That's cute - Neil thinks Terry is the best coach in the NBA.
1/30 = ~3%

Can't vote on your own team. That's why Magic voted for Kawhi--> TOR as best acquisition.
Who do we think voted for Stotts? Billy Donovan? Luke Walton? We swept them last season.

Brad Stevens is not the best coach in the NBA. POP is hands freaking down. Until that young man wins an EC & NBA championship no way I crown him best coach in the association.
Im not saying he's not a terrific coach, and maybe even #two, put the best? sorry
