It's clearly not market size. Guys like Steven Adams, George, Westbrook, Jokic, and Kemba, and Rose have more votes than Dame. And they're all inferior. Giannis and AD are better than Dame and have way more votes.

Maybe the team needs to ramp up its marketing efforts more. I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things and Dame will never get voted in as a starter with Steph and Harden in the same conference, but it has to sting a bit. He's having his best season yet and the team is playing well. I hate this for him.

I think its TV time.

Most of those names you listed I believe are all East of the Rockies. People are still up to watch those games and remember the good players. We are lucky if we get 10% of the east to watch a 730pm Pacific time start to check Dame out.

I don't think you can compare votes for forwards to guards or between conferences. So the only comparison would be for Dame to other guards in the West. You're right though, the marketing by the Blazers to vote for Dame is pretty poor. It doesn't really matter what the fan votes are though.

I gave up on voting for these stupid things years ago, and assume much of the Portland fan base has gone the same way.

You can vote for just one player this year and it's pretty simple if you have a google account. You're not forced to pick every player on the roster. I've voted just for Dame a few times already this year.

Fan voting needs to die. The average fan in 2018 clearly doesn't watch or give a shit.

And Blazers/McGowan are lucky Dame is low maintenance. I'd be going apeshit if I were him.

But that also opens up the voting to trolls and hackers to vote people like Rose into a starting spot.

To your point though, I don't have twitter nor would I use my page to vote for an All-Star game if I had it so I really don't even know how to vote. I guess I could check on NBA.com but it's not really worth the effort. I've never heard of voting on google either and I watch or go to every game.

If fans want to see Rose in the ASG then let fans see Rose in the ASG. The ASG is suppose to be for us.

Do fans really want to see Rose in the All-Star game though or is it just a group of people that have made a mockery of the system?

Then disallow contract incentives for all star and all nba. And quit considering the number of appearances while voting for HOF. The actual NBA all star game is trash. No one really watches that shit. But when it matters so much for legacy, trolls and hackers shouldn't have even the 50% of the say they currently do.

People have made a mockery of the voting system for a game that is already a mockery?

Oh no!

If I was Dame I would rather be voted in by the coaches and the players then then the fans. Reasons it showed more respect if the peers and coaches vote him in due to they know who deserves it. Fans it just the popularity vote for there favorites.

Winning is the main factor why it's always an uphill climb for Dame.

He'll need to be on a powerhouse to get the recognition that he deserves, not hovering around .500.

I think Nurkic gets little attention with KAT, AD, and Jokic getting the majority of votes at center. I do not hold Mitchell's shooting woes against Gobert and would put him ahead of Nurk. Most are probably going to vote Capella as well. There is another arguable tier that he groups in with DeAndre Jordan, Steven Adams, Ayton, and Gasol. BTW, Jordan is shooting 71% from the line and deserves credit for Dallas playing better this year. The All Star game is a joke though and Green could still make it. He and Klay should not be there this year though.

Will be interesting with Westbrook. Averaging a triple double but still jacking up close to 5 three pointers a game but shooting 23%.
I’m impressed with Jordan putting in the work on his FT shooting. I don’t watch many Dallas games but I hear Jordan’s defense is awful this year. He wouldn’t make it over Nurkic.

The point is that you have to be top 3 in the west to even think about having more than 1 AllStar. Unless we're top 3, position is irrelevant.
And Rockets had best record in NBA and still had only 1 All Star last year. Position is relevant though. If there was room for more guards, CP would’ve made it. There have to be a certain amount of frontcourt players on the All Star team.

My current guess (starters in bold):
Backcourt:
Curry
Harden

Westbrook
Lillard
Derozan

Frontcourt:
Lebron
Durant
Davis

Jokic
George

I'd lean Harris for the 11th spot.

12th spot completely up in the air. Booker, Aldridge, Towns, Gobert, Conley, Capela, Klay and probably others all have an argument,

I like your 11. I'd put Towns in probably. So many deserving players in the west. Luka's stats are better than Conley's-- he should def be in consideration too. Hell, if Gobert is there, Nurk should be considered as well.

Klay and his 15 PER shouldn't be sniffing this game. He and CJ have nearly identical stats.

I'd be down with Luka--especially since his game is tailor-made for the ASG--but the coaches seem to be loathe to include rookies unless they're absolute no-brainers.

I agree about Klay, but...you know, Warriors. :dunno:

Gobert's a notch above Nurk, IMO. Plus he's built a foundation for selection over the past 3 years, which Nurk hasn't.

And we really shouldn't ignore Booker, who (though on the worst team in the conference) is averaging 7 assists/game along with being over 25 ppg. Has anyone ever averaged 25/7 and not been an all-star? Just twice--Tiny Archibald in 72 (led the league in both categories the next season), and Michael Adams in 91 (actually over 26/10!!). Only other guys doing that this season are Lebron and Harden.

All that said, I'd probably give that 12th spot to Capela.
