FUCK NO to Austin Rivers! Actually neither of those guys are exactly maestros at running a team, but Dunn is at least an elite defender. Rivers is elite at dribbling in the same place for most of the shot clock.
If we are going for D Dunn plays some really good D but another guy who can't shoot the 3, but paired with shooters situationally I think he'd be a good fit

Dunn would be awesome to have in the West. You need a pest like that to help deal fast guards like Fox, Murray and Ja.

Is this true? Hood is also a 2 year deal with a player option.

Question on capspace and how/when actual signings take place. Can we still use Hassan in a sign and trade? or is that option now gone?

just going to ask that same question. Any realistic options with Charlotte or sac? Can you attach a player who sign and traded to other pieces? Like Hassan and little for ____

Steven Adams to New Orleans...

He should have fun trying to run up and down the court with those guys, but damn, that just became a bruising front line. I feel bad for whoever plays them when Zion is healthy.

Ariza has been on 4 teams in the last week.

He's rapidly making up for all the teams he didn't play against in the bubble.

I agree, he has a great mind for multidimensional trade maneuvering, but I'm not sure he's one of the best talent evaluators. It's easy to point at Durant, Westbrook, Harden, but I think it could be argued they were just a fortunate circumstance -"right place at the right time". They were basically selected where they were mocked, and they earned those draft slots the hard way - not from multidimensional maneuvering. To not come away with at least one ring with those guys is pretty damning.

Don't forget Ibaka. Durant was the easy pick, but Westbrook was a bit of a reach. Remember, we hoped to move up and get him but OKC valued him enough to take higher than most projected.

That team was broken up way too early to know how could they could have been. Add in that they ran into consecutive dynasties in SAS, Miami, and GS, and there weren't a whole lot of 'chips left to go around. Presti put a great roster together in the coach's hands for a while there. That's about all you can ask of the GM.

for another big bring Skal back? or Vonleh? Kaminsky, Illyasova. Taj and there are others. Still some decent backups if we want that

forgot to add Giles, wouldn't mind takin a chance on him - classic Olshey reclamation project?

Dunn was a nice get at 2/10 for the Hawks. They addressed something we need to address as well. I would love Shaquille Harrison, but Dunn would've been fine as well.

I don't see Portland as really moved into a top 10 team.

We would have been a top ten team last season without injuries. Now we've upgraded Ariza into Roco, Rio into Jones and just added Enes. Nas, Ant and a hopefully re-signed Wenyen should be more developed than they were last season. I think Gary will continue to get better. I think, even with the fact that our second highest paid player is not a good fit on the team, we will compete and probably get HCA in the Western Conference. Reason would tell you that makes us top eight but we know that the East isn't as good as the West so that probably puts us higher than top 8. I know we can get injured just like we did before but so can any team, so by a month into the season I expect that we'll have all of the guys playing who were injured last year (Nurk, Hood and Zach).

I see Portland more as the perennial dark horse. Never a favorite.

From Bogdan Bogdonavic to this. Sucks.

After seeing some of the money these guys got, I'm not too upset at the DJJ deal. At least there's some upside there, and the risk is quite low.

I think replacing Ariza, Mario and Whiteside for Covington, DJJ and Kanter is a solid upgrade, particularly in the BBIQ area. A full healthy year of Hood and Nurk (knock on wood), will be massive. We haven't had disruptive defenders like Covington and DJJ since Gerald Wallace was on the squad. If Trent keeps developing like we saw in the bubble, we could have a top 10 defense.

Washington....fantastic organization? RoLo has been smoking something very toxic.

If you go look at his tweets yesterday I’m inclined to believe this is just sarcasm veiled as a compliment, something he is known for.

Waking up to the deals Harkless and Dunn got doesn't make me feel any better about the DJJ deal. Both combined to sign for less than what we paid for Jones and both would have helped Portland win now.

Add in that Augustine is now off the board and Portland's backup PG options are started to get really limited ...
