NO has made it abundantly clear that CJ & Ant are all the backup PG that hes going to cary on the roster.
Doesn't matter how much he'd help the team... it's not an option

Which I'm fine with--we need to give Ant playing time to learn.

I’m very surprised Allen Crabbe is out of the league. Even though he never improved after getting that contract I always felt like his skill set would make him a 12 year vet.

Funny how we debated which 70 million dollar contract was worse between him and Turner and both are out of the league after those contracts. Yet Meyers is still making 10 million a year.

When you’ve got guys like Ilyasova without a job it’s almost hopeless for someone like Crabbe, who struggled last season.

Crabbe
Turner
Ezeli
....how many other guys has Olshey offered big money to that are either out of the league or on a minimum contract?

Ok, but either way it really doesn't change the minutes played at small forward and definitely not enough to draw a reasonable conclusion.

well, if you run the math of that stat, it means Melo played 71 minutes at SF which is less than 4% of his minutes, so yeah, that seems an inadequate sample size that would generate too much noise for any worthwhile conclusion

but I think we saw enough of Melo last season to recognize what he can do and what he can't. If he's guarded by a lighter SF type, he's really good at using bully-ball to establish position and get his shot off. Against PF's, he still has moves that will get himself shots against slower PF's, but he's simply overmatched against mobile PF's and stretch-4's with length

on the other end of the floor, he's easily beaten by either SF's or PF's with decent handles. Melo simply doesn't have the lateral mobility or reactions to consistently play solid defense

the biggest problem on offense is his high usage and low efficiency. I know he can get his shots, but he was 12th on the team in TS% & 13th in eFG% which left him 11th in Offensive BPM and 15th in overall BPM. That he carried that kind of crappy efficiency but was 3rd on the team in FGA's was a major symptom in Portland's failures last season. He's not 3rd-option-good anymore which is why his minutes and role should be dialed way back this year

Svi Mykhailiuk was my preferred choice - now, he’d be an underrated trade target.

Andre Roberson - healthy and would add depth.

Bottom line. Melo is a bargain at vet min.

Allen Crabbe had a similar demeanor as Greg Oden, didn't seem to have much spark, a bit aloof.

Wait ET is out of the league? Google says he's with the Timberwolves.

Batum waived by Charlotte and will sign with the Clippers, per Shams.

Battle of LA, Matthews vs. Batum. Who you rooting for?

WE could have really used him on our roster this season!

Portland's failures last season was mostly attributed to Nurk, Hood and Collons missing all or most of the season. One could surmise that Melo helped keep a sinking ship floating till reinforcements arrived. Nobody really did any better against the lakers so hardly a slam to the Blazers losing in the first round. With a healthier roster we likely avoid the lakers in the first round.

Elijah Bryant is the best shooter not in the NBA - has already turned down a few teams, the Bucks for one. But he’s a player to keep tabs on:

Why isn't this guy in the NBA?
