There is no Win-Win approach here at all, imo.

The Million $$$ Question isn't only when is the Season going to start, it's a big how will it start, who's going to get paid what. Who's going to be allowed in the Stadiums, cardboard cutouts e.g. S. Korean Baseball style?

With a 50/50 proposed revenue sharing, and with the loss of at least 40% of all revenue, wtf is the 2020 Season even going to look like?

Players are weighing in on the proposal...

"Y’all gotta understand, for me to take a pay cut is not happening because the risk is through the roof, it’s a shorter season and less pay,” Snell said. “Bro, I’ve got to get my money. I’m not playing unless I get mine. That’s just the way it is for me. I’m sorry if you guys think differently but if the risk is higher and the amount of money I’m making is way lower, why would I think about doing that? I’m sorry." (Blake Snell)

“[Snell] was probably a little bold in what he said, but we’ve already made a pay concession,” Kershaw said on the Dan Patrick Show on Friday. “We’re going to get paid prorated based on the season—we play 81 games, we are going to get half our pay. We agreed to that already, and I know guys kind of thought that was what we decided as a union. Obviously, with no fans, it changes things for some owners, but we’re still playing the same game.” (Clayton Kershaw)

https://ftw.usatoday.com/2020/05/mark-teixeira-mlb-players-owners-deal

“From a player’s standpoint, I want 100 percent of my salary for every game played – but unfortunately, these are unprecedented times. And the owners’ 50/50 split is not unreasonable. If you really think about where the finances of baseball have gone, the players are actually getting less than 50 percent of the revenue from the sport in a regular season. If we didn’t have a pandemic this year and played 162 games, the players would have actually gotten less than 50 percent. So the owners, themselves, they’re making the best offer they can make, and I think it’s a very reasonable offer.
"I think players need to understand, just this one time – one time in the history of the union, since Curt Flood, they can bend a little bit and say ‘you know what, we’re going to do what’s best for the sport, what’s best for the country. There’s people out there that are risking their lives on the front lines. There are people that are losing their jobs, losing their savings. And we know this might not be a great deal for us, but it’s better than sitting at home and not playing baseball at all.'” (Mark Teixeria)

The owners believe they will lose about $125 million a team if no season is played and about $100 million during the regular season if they played with no fans. The risk is if they sustain those losses during the regular season and the postseason was abruptly cancelled, it could lead several owners to possible bankruptcy.

The players will lose everything but the $280,000 they’ll have received by May 24 if there is no season. But if they agree to a pay cut, they believe they’ll be losing their rights and leverage in upcoming talks with their collective bargaining agreement expiring on Dec. 1, 2021.

Your Thoughts anyone? ...

I heard Sniveling Snell on Bay News Nine stating his alleged case. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on. Many Fans who pay out at game attendance time are in far worse shape.

My feeling has been that we won't see a major sport until the NFL season kicks off. Whether that's in September or October remains to be seen.

I don't have a problem with players looking out for the safety of their family, or making as much money as possible. But, seems like many MLB Millionaires have lost the perspective of who they play for, sure it's themselves first in most cases. This game would only be played by kids if they had no fans willing to pay ridiculous amounts to watch 'em play a Game...
Seem's MLB turned to a Big Business decades ago. A business where players have become commodities, and the Game/sport is secondary.

We saw a strike in '81 with a Coke Problem to follow. The we saw another strike in'94 which completely canceled that season. My thought on that one was that the plyers should have honored that season through that season the strike afterward.. Like little babies with excrement in their diapers they managed to fuck up both the '94 & 95 seasons. Then enter another stain with the steroids. Still through all that the players got their money cheating or not. Our most recent scandal came in the Astros cheating their way through post season ball. With Covid--19 everyone seems to have tabled the latest game stain. Then you hav an asshole like Snell crying. News flash dork, you don't play game you don't get paid. Many American Workers are in that fix right now. Throughout the past 38 years of bullshit antics in the game the fans still show up and it's time the players recognize that. Joe Di-Maggio made 700,000 Dollars for playing baseball for the Yankees and what did they get, a hustling championship ball player. Giancarlo Stanton is getting 30 mil per year, barely shows up , lets he manager know when he's available.. That Ty Cobb quote was also ushered by John J. Mc Graw. I agree that a man should be oaid for his work but when I hear on of these modern day playe snivel like Snell then hear echoes of yeah man from the likes of 300,000,000 Bryce Harper I tend to get a bit pissed. Back in '63 when I was a Pv1 drawing 71.00 a month I was damn proud to get it for serving my country. I'd like to see todays players to appreciate their skills and fortune at drawing a more than fair wage to play such a great game.

Wait...Millions of people in this country are out of work but Snell is whining about only getting $9 Mil for playing a game I'd play for free?

Hey Snell, how about having a nice cup of "shut the fuck up"?

Who cares. A pox on both their houses!! It’s just ridiculous

....^^^^

I care, but, it's a giant crock of :pokecrap:
My bigger concern is- with Owners and Players incapable of coming to any kind of agreement; with MLBPA and MLB appearing like castrated mules, what's 2021 Contract Negotiations going to look like, more of the same?

Both sides are suffering mega losses, what concessions will both sides look to recover in the 2021 year end negotiations?

Fk, bringing down the Berlin Wall was easier to resolve than this stalemate!

Scabs may be next, a Fans worst nightmare.... scabs?:protest:

I’m at the point now of who gives a fuck. The only thing that IS total bullshit is that even if there’s no season, all the people who were suspended for the year due to cheating can come back. That would be total horseshit.

I don't care there's no games,
To hell with all of the crowd.
Keep your old Peanuts and Cracker Jacks,
I don't care if the players come back.

And this year there's no home team,\
To root for oh what a shame.
Cause it's one, two, three strikes,
We're out of the old ball game.

1981 Strike one,
1994 Strike two
2020 or 21 Strike Three

Sadly, I'm over it as well. July 4th is approaching and these clowns are still arguing. At a time when people could really use sports right now.

exactly, all the hoolabaloo for nothing.

It took me and many others until the all-star break to even have a slight spark of interest in the 95 season. The only thing worthy of the 81 farce of a season was the World Series, and even that stunk to high hell.

It would behoove everyone, players, owners et al to write this season off. There will be deeper losses if this season is played, than writing it off.
Next year is going to be much like 95, or even 82, 1/2 empty stadiums or worse. Revenue will be way down below even the worst expectations, and I bet TV revenues aren't what MLB will be expecting. Ntm- there's still going to be a helluva lot of unemployed people, who can't afford to take in a game, let alone pay for the cable bill etc.

The usual horrible injury luck continues for the Yankees. CT scan was negative. He will now enter the concussion protocol. Hopefully, no lingering effects.

I read a week or two ago for of the Yankee players tested positive for Coronavirus. Names were not listed though. Today I see DJ LeMahieu and Luis Cessa tested positive.

Does anyone know who else on the Yanks have Coronavirus?

I thought the same thing, i.e. Season hasn't even started and the Injuries pick up where they left off.
