I don’t think he’s not as good. I think it’s a mental issue. My fear is it’s his motor and competitive mindset. He’s SUPER young so it is very likely correctable. He’s missing shots and he’s hesitating on offense rather than doing it in the flow. I think the game will slow down for him, he will learn sets and rotations. Finally he will relax and then he will be a key piece again. I just hate seeing this stage of growth but its true of almost all rookies and even superstar rookies.
keep expectations low.

i didn't think he'd impact our winning at all this year. any of that is a bonus. all i wanted were flashes and 10-15 mpg perhaps even sporadically so he gets a feel for game play.

I meant that he's not as good YET as his early production indicated. I think he's just in a typical rookie funk, and add to that he has an injury, teams have figured him out AND he's basically playing the first ball in a long time that maybe he's hit a wall a bit.

They don't run plays for him much anymore too. And I don't think it's a bad thing that he's this way. I didn't expect him to be much of a consistent threat (8-11 points) until March anyways.

Losing on the road is not bad as losing at home like the Jazz and Nets game. That 2 hurts

Ok, but if he isn’t gonna sniff the court when GPII arrives, send him to Gleague.

Keep wondering why Sharpe gets playing time by default and Walker gets none.

I would guess it's because Sharpe is a lot better than Walker, but I only say that because he is.

normally, i'd agree but i don't like the idea of sending a rookie like shaedon down to a team we don't control. think he'd gain way more just sitting 5 feet from dame on the bench than playing 40 mpg and jacking up 30 shots against lesser competition. sharpe needs to be around professionals and see pro actions and learn counters.

That’s fair. I just want to see him develop and hoped he’d be an anomaly and just get going ASAP as a rookie. He really needs development and if he’s going to get benched Id rather he play in the G league. Again we REALLY ought to own one that does all our teams sets on defense and offense. This is such an obvious things its incredible we still don’t have one.

Yeah you might be right since we don’t own a Gleague team. Which again, is an absolute head scratcher. Jody is one of the richest owners in sports. She’s spending on the team which I applaud but buy that Gleague team and have it modeled after our team. We have so many young guys needing development.

Sharpe is a lot better than Walker this moment? Walker must be awful if that's the case but I'd still like to see him get some court time.

Whatever the idea was on offense by Billups it was Mickey Mouse.

cronin said earlier that this is a work in a progress to get a team and they've been considering it.

and we apparently lost cuz Curry scored 14 more than him tonight and the loss is entirely on Simons.

a veteran poster actually said this in this thread.

you're full of shit....I never said what you're claiming I said

did I blame Simons for the loss or did I just make an off-hand remark about point spread? I don't expect Simons to outplay Durant or Kyrie, but he should be able to at least come close to Curry. There were plenty of reasons for the loss, including Dame in street clothes

if you are a team that can't acknowledge who your best player is during a specific game, then you are going to have a tough time winning. That's what the Blazers were today.
Because there is no one best player right now on offense.

off hand remark or a really dumbass attempt at being snarky?

Nets win by 14; Curry outscores Simons by 14....is it that simple?

not sure how one can claim that was an "off hand" comment while doubling down...

cuz it's a 1 on 1 game? dude guarded Curry on like 1 possession while Ant was facing traps and physicality all game. No doubt he seemed really out of it tonight, but he's far from the reason we lost to a far superior roster.

We are almost there in regards to chasing the Lakers record for the 10th spot

I wish the Blazers had someone like Curry coming off the bench to provide offense. 5 or the last 6 games the other team has had someone off the bench score big, The Blazers have one game where Sharpe did, other then that it is not much production off the bench. The Blazers need to upgrade the scoring off the bench. It is hard when you are getting hardly any production off your bench.

Nets win by 14; Durant outscores Nurkic by 14....is it that simple?

lol

you're working way too hard at this and you need to work on your Matlock act

Simons had a bad game. It's actually acceptable to comment on that in the game thread

Tough road trip. So are we still rolling with the whole….” The vets are freezing out Sharpe/he should be starting” thing? Just curious….
Well on a bright note, we fly out of PDX in 50 hours for LAX and are still in NYC and have a game in between. So there’s that FAMS!

Luckily the team we play doesn’t have a bench like us. #BAM

I would gladly introduce you to Jerami Grant.
He is a offensive stud, and Portland was looking for him, and he was being very aggressive.
And, on any given night, Anfernee is an offensive explosion.
I just believe JG ran outta gas. The whole team looked spent at the end.

Nurkic took 4 times (8) the free throws of Grant (2) on half the shot attempts (12 vs 24).
Nurkic was clearly the bigger problem for Brooklyn.
That he only had 12 shot attempts shows how little emphasis Billups puts in his offense to getting Nurkic the ball.
We'd see Simons dribbling for no reason at the 3-point line, when the ball could have been moving around for a good entry pass to Nurkic.

Wow people in here actually celebrating the Blazers doing badly.

starting unit has enough talent on offense to be playing like this, but even with dame, our offense isnt looking pretty

not sure who calls plays on offense, but whoever it is, he must do a better job, offense needs to look fluent

Ah well - things are back to normal. Once again the Gutter-Balls almost convinced me they were worth giving a shit about. Shame on me!

Peace out!
