Very interesting bench production stats. Do we have the worst bench in the league? Absolutely, dead last. But that can probably be attributed to our top 3 bench players being injured and missing so many games. However, after that, there seems to be no correlation with bench production and winning. In fact, there may even be an inverse correlation with bench production and winning.

The top 8 teams in bench scoring are .500 or below.

While the top 8 East teams in the standings are all in the bottom half of the league in bench scoring, with Milwaukee being the highest at 16th. Notably, Cleveland and Philly are 28th and 25th.

In the West, Denver is also in the bottom half at 17th in bench scoring. Memphis and Sacramento, 2nd and 3rd in the standings, are 10th and 9th in bench scoring.

And it's kind of to be expected, when you think about it. Good teams have stars, stars have big contracts, the NBA has a salary cap, so, if you have good, established players, more of the team's bank is going to the starters and that's going to lead to a weaker bench.

Which, of course, means you have to make sure you get as much bang for your buck with the starters you are paying and you have to be really insightful with the players you acquire to fill out your rotation.

The Blazers haven't effectively done either.

And, to piggyback on my previous post, that's not all on the current Blazers, their coaches or their FO.

Olshey gave up three first-round draft picks for average, niche players. Terry Stotts never really committed to putting young players into roles where they could be counted on at the very least not to kill us while simultaneously learning the game.

Olshey, also, IMO, never understood the charm of Portland and the organization. He was a big-city guy with big-city tastes and he didn't have the awareness to sell potential free agents on what the city and the organization had to offer. Think about how many players have openly said how they loved Portland after they left. Olshey thought everything was only dollars. Consequently, he was routinely overpaying players to come here instead of doing the hard work to find the good fits that could be had at appropriate costs. Eventually, that lack of vision added up, literally.

Well didn't watch game and thread haven't changed a lot fighting between people what they see in game. How they see team while watching. Now here the funny thing this is the ones that's goes after HCP let give advice on this and learn long time arguing with us like arguing with your wife or Ex your not going get anywhere with argument.

Nurkic and Simons were absolutely horrible, and Lillard was flopping around like a fish. Then the Blazers media is out here telling us it was a good game. Portland fans aren't stupid. This fake news stuff has become insulting.
You let news insult you?

it was even worse than that

1 first for Afflalo (+Will Barton)
2 first's for Zach
1 first on Swanigan (after paying millions for that first by taking on Varejao)
2 first's for RoCo
1 first for Nance (+ Portland having their first's encumbered till 2030)

essentially, from June 2016 till now Olshey spent 7 first round picks and the Blazers don't have one goddamn thing to show for it. Nothing, Nada. Zilch

and they still have to send a first to Chicago. That's mismanagement on a colossal scale and there still a few posters who will defend that clown

Blazers getting mauled by an opponent? No biggie. Blazers media/PR machine telling us these beatdowns are fun and entertaining? That's being dishonest, Portland fans don't need to be lied to.

You may have twisted the message a bit sir. Can you show me a specific PR or media release “telling the fans the beat downs are fun and entertaining”.?

It's the Blazer medias job to try and spin a positive note, not that there has been a lot of positives this season. The Blazers media isn't going to shit on the team they work for. That said, in their defense I have seen some of the analysts/commentators pointing out the negatives and saying the Blazers need to fix it.
