a 2nd rounder, sure.
Possibly. Just saying, I'm not going that high for the Blazers. If Houston just did this deal and carried Thybulle into the season I'm sure they can get something close to a first during the season.

Yeah the argument is really moot because we signed him. Value is value. I could see being annoyed if we traded for him.I keep reading this from fans and I don't really think it is accurate. If we signed him for the minimum a couple of years ago and he played well, he would still be due for another contract this summer....at a higher price. Unless you all think we would have given him a 4-year minimum deal. This way he was at least well coached before coming to us.
You are correct but as some others have pointed out, the order of operations are irrelevant. Unless we renege. Here’s an interesting little nugget from the CBA FAQ page:
“During the July Moratorium (see question number 105), teams may not enter into verbal or written agreements with most free agents. Therefore any such agreements that are struck during the Moratorium are still characterized as negotiations, and do not count toward team salary.”
I think this means that GP2’s deal isn’t currently on the Blazers’ books so they aren’t technically hard capped at the moment.
If we can get Ben Simmons for Hart, Bledsoe, Didi and draft picks… that will be huge for this team
Miles Bridges Unrestricted FA… anyone? Or is it good citizen far more important than winning?

Correct. But once we sign him we have to be below the apron. So it's irrelevant
True, but couldn't it mean that Cronin has the opportunity to make a move or two first, before signing Payton, and as long as he ends up under the apron he could still use the MLE?

How about for a vet minimum… would you sign him?Tough to help win if your wife-abusing ass is in prison for felony assault.

Yeah, but we can sign guys after he has signed as well, the same way.True, but couldn't it mean that Cronin has the opportunity to make a move or two first, before signing Payton, and as long as he ends up under the apron he could still use the MLE?
Sure but it’s kinda irrelevant. We have to have 13 players and we can’t exceed the apron. Whether we have Payton signed or not doesn’t really impact that.True, but couldn't it mean that Cronin has the opportunity to make a move or two first, before signing Payton, and as long as he ends up under the apron he could still use the MLE?
I'd probably lean Martin, but he was restricted, so doesn't really matter.Cody Martin 4/32 or GP2 3/28?
I feel like there’s a misunderstanding about being hard capped. You guys are acting like we have more flexibility if we aren’t hard capped yet. That doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is at the end of the day, if you trigger the hard cap, you have to have a minimum of 13 players and you can’t exceed the hard cap for any reason. So unless we are planning on trading someone like Hart for a pick, we can’t really do much. We have to free up space to make any moves.I believe that is correct. We aren't hard capped.....until we are, and we are not...yet.
But what about Caleb who is unrestricted?I'd probably lean Martin, but he was restricted, so doesn't really matter.
