How much is the rest?
MLE is 10.349M. The assumption is the Payton's first year will be 8.889M, leaving as much as 1.46M available for the first year of a contract for Walker.

they wouldn't pay him more than the minimum. The advantage to using the exception to sign him is they could add a 3rd year to his deal they'd have full-bird rights when he was RFA. I know that you know that but it's worth saying that is the main reason teams use an exception to sign a 2nd round pick

What should we expect to see when July 6th comes around?

That will probably be an eventful day around the league. Not much news on Ayton so far.

Im guessing Ayton is in limbo until the KD thing is resolved.

moratorium ends at 9 AM Pacific tomorrow. I'm guessing they'll hold a PC introducing Grant and Payton. And maybe another for Ant/Nurk/Drew.

Can one of the media members ask whether ducking the tax is a priority? that should give indication whether we're done this summer or if there's more to come. Cronin has been somewhat forthcoming so we might get an answer.

Doesn't really matter what they say. All about action. Neil always said he could spend, but made plenty of moves specifically to duck the tax.
