I think we need to include that Sharpe played 41 minutes and was 4-16.
He had a bad game which will happen.

I think he had a good game but shot poorly. I don't think those two are synonymous necessarily.

Sure, but the result is easily predictable.
I don’t think it will hurt us to try to win these two long term. Let’s go for it. Lakers have been awful on the road and the Suns have been awful everywhere.

Probably so, but fans blaming everyone else but SS is getting ridiculous ...and I am a huge SS fan.

Blazers shot 1-11 from deep in the 4th. They only hit 3 baskets the entire quarter.
"Yaa, you know... guys got good looks, just couldn't get them to drop."

in the last 3 games, Mays has 33 assists vs 6 turnovers. averaging 11 with a 5.5 assist/turnover ratio

those are exceptional numbers. Am I wrong to think he he dribbles too much?

He's like Tyus Jones, who has a career average of 5 A/TO, and was considered the best back up point guard in the league for years before finally becoming a starter this year.

Really wish we inked him to a longer deal. Something like 3 years / 9 million would have been a bargain.

I think Mays has looked good and should only get better. Couple of wtf moments but not many. Look forward seeing him against stronger teams. I know what you mean by the overdribbling.

DA was exceptional on offense and there is not a reason I can find that would prevent him from averaging those kinds of numbers. He has to get to the line more too. He is a 20 and 12 guy.

I’m watching the game late. So I’m curious…. Does the team have to cut checks to the league for every replay they run because they don’t show shit.

weird foul on Camara? No replay.

Questionable charge called on Grant? No replay.

Nice pass from Mays to Ayton? No replay.

Also…. The Jazz are some flopping bitches.

He dribbles way too much, setting up a Billups play that isn't nearly as good as simply an open shot.

He's 20 and playing the most minutes. The criticism on him is as crazy as the criticism of Scoot. Scoot literally got better every single game he played. That's all you can realistically ask for. It's about progress. Both Scoot and Sharpe have been that.

I wonder that every game. Instead of the foul that just occurred, we see a layup that happened 2 plays ago.

He shot badly but dude had 8 boards, 7 assists and 2 steals. That is not a bad game.

It’s not too late.

I don’t really understand blaming anyone for anything honestly. This team has been decimated by injuries and we are stupid young. And through all that, we are trying Jennifer. We are competing.

I think once Scoot calms down, he can 100% do what Mays is doing, only better.

Ayton looked very nimble tonight. Found open areas to operate and finished strong. Had some really good offense cooking. . . 4th quarter the Blazers only ran 1 play for DA, a delayed screen & roll with Mays. Utah sniffed it out and got the steal. After 5 minutes of wtf basketball including 6 straight bricked Blazer 3pt shots, Coach pulled the starters for tomorrow night's matchup against Cleveland.

Is anyone criticizing him? I see a lot of it for almost everyone else but him. I agree with Nate, I don't think anyone should be blamed at this point.
My issue is when fans think the offense needs to go through him. He is not ready for that. 7 turnovers last game and poor shooting tonight. But blaming Chauncey, and Grant, and Brogdon because SS is not getting enough touches is ridiculous. Sharpe is getting plenty of experience right now....that's all he needs

Teams have figured out that he only goes right and they are scheming to take that away. Hard core.

I also wonder what his injury and insane MPG is doing to him.

This shit drives me up the fucking wall… and why I miss the way Hart and Watford threw lobs for Shae.

We steal the ball, 2 on 1 fast break, Shae passes to Bouyea and instead of throwing it up for Sharpe, this fucking two way guy gets a charge.

it's honestly getting hard to read these game threads/the site in general. Seem's like everyones expectations of our team is way higher than reality and its really setting them up for some "Woe is me(/Blazer)" Moments, and there are a lot of posters here who really need to check them expectations. It'll save them a whole lot of heartache in the long run of the season. Just freaking watch the games for what they are, growing pains and entertainment. Enjoy the good moments and try to brush off these bad ones because god damn it theres going to be a lot of them within the next season or two and id like to enjoy my time here and discuss some damn blazers basketball and not have to block every Whiny sally out there because they think the sky is falling. This isnt the jailblazers era and this isnt Oden and broy on their 2nd/3rd surgery seasons...

We are a young team and have a somewhat bright future, with our TEENAGER PG (one of the harder positions to learn in the NBA) and handful of other younger 20' somethings will eventually figure it out, Not to mention whatever trades we end up pulling if we do, this season will be in constant flux injuries or not... Chauncey remains to be seen, I know a lot of have written him off, but were not even a full month into the god damn season, im still letting my cake bake and see how shit shakes out. I'll be worried Mid season next season if shit hasn't changed then. Until then if we win great, if we lose whatever hopefully we get a good draft pick out of it.

you can't take game threads serious. Emotions are high and people love to beat their favorite dead horses and grind their axes

Sharpe had 10 free throws. Mays had 1.

The offense doesn't need to always go through Sharpe, but there should be many many more possessions that he initiates, full court and half court,

with the ball early in the shot clock, not after Mays has dribbled half of it away.

If Sharpe's teammates clear out of the way, it creates a dilemma for the defense. He doesn't have great handles but in space it's hard to stop him without fouling him,

because he takes contact well and can elevate and contort near the hoop as still score, better than anyone else on the team.

Give that guy the ball more often by default, not because he got open for Skylar Mays.
