snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

I had never really seen much of Jalen Duren until tonight; I was pretty impressed

He was a legit big playing against guys who weren't, though. And the way the game was officiated in the 4Q played to his advantage.

For three quarters Jabari Walker played him even.

If Adam Silver had an ounce of integrity he would take the Blazers’ first-round pick away from them for tanking like this.

this front office is so incompetent, they will just bench their prized rookies in hopes of losing close games with their vets playing. also, the shameless tanking is ridiculous when you do it every year.

the top prospects deserve better than this shit team.

Chauncey will be gone soon. Hoping Cronin and Jodi are next. It all starts with ownership. Hopefully by then we have a few superstars not even in their prime.

What really had me scratching my head is why Murray didn't play at all down the stretch or in OT. They needed someone out there who was at least a threat to score on the perimeter. We played 1 1/2 guys with any ability to put the ball in the basket and ran the 1 completely into the ground. That either was really bad coaching or that was tank coaching, but I have a really hard time thinking it wasn't by design. With all the guys suddenly unavailable and then that, that looked to me like throwing the game.

I don't buy the narrative that they needed Hagans out there either. His ballhandling wasn't that impressive that you can't tell me with Murray, Grant, Camara, Matisse and Walker, all of whom are at least competent dribblers, you couldn't have brought the ball up by committee.

Turnovers lost this game..we had 21 or more..we got steals we couldn't convert...we lost in OT. Chauncey should have used Grant as a decoy, that's bad endgame coaching in my view. ISO ball keeps defenses fresh and rested.

Are you seriously attempting to blame Billups for the loss or being sarcastic? They had one play-maker on the entire roster for the 4th quarter and OT. The decoys missed EVERY shot they took during that stretch. 0%.

I’m sick of the tanking. Don’t understand why the NBA allows a team like Portland to tank year after year. It’s disgraceful. Been a Blazer fan a long time, but I may be done. This franchise has lost whatever pride and dignity it once had.

Philly tanked year after year too.

Shit happens. It's not that serious lol

The "process" didn't do them a damn bit of good

food coma after 3 days of rest. It's not Cronin's fault his players ate too much

other teams didn't tank with 30 yr old player shooting 30 shots. how is this better than playing our young guys and letting them take their drubbings

I want to scream.

WHO CARES ABOUT WINS/LOSSES this year?

Literally the only takeaways from this year are if Chauncey can develop the youngins. Barring that, I don't give a shit if we lose by 50+ every night.

lol. :argument: Pick a lane….One is out for surgery. He started Murray, our other 1st round pick in the last two years….

No, lack of talent lost this game. As soon as Ant got hurt, it was Grant and a bunch of Remixers. Our bench tonight was comprised exclusively of Remixers. Down the stretch, Detroit easily had 3 of the 4 best players on the court (maybe even 4 of 5 if you count Sasser).

Only 2 wins separate Hornets, Wizards, Spurs, and Pistons.

Blazers 5 wins above the mega tankers

Where's the phone...

Another thing about playing Hagans who is new to the team and offered nothing offensively down the stretch. OK, so if they don't want to play Murray because they need a ballhandler out there, why not Rupert? Again, he's not discernably worse dribbling the ball than Hagans, but he's definitely a far better athlete who also has a lot more experience this year playing NBA caliber players.

My wife spent nearly $300 in August for the five of us to go to this game. 200 level seats and my boys had a great time. First time the younger ones stayed for the whole thing. That was worth the experience in my eyes.

That and seeing a fan hold up an image in their phone on the jumbo tron that read “Sell the team Jody” that everyone clearly saw.

Also, why the hell did Mark Mason introduce Ant as a forward and Duren as a guard?

bizarre night all around.

Had a chance to talk to Coach Jarrett Jack tonight after the game. Said the staff absolutely love Thompson and Darren. Said they both play 110% everyday whether it’s a game or practice!

here's a question: if PG13 hadn't got Covid and the Clips beat the Pels in that play-in game in 2022, the Blazers would have had the 11th pick after taking Sharpe at 7. Reportedly, IIRC, the Blazers were interested in Duren and Jalen Williams. Would the Blazers have drafted Duren; or drafted Williams; or traded the 11th pick to Detroit for Grant (they wouldn't have had the Milwaukee 2025 first to trade)
Duren, I hoped

LOVED Jarret Jack!

We just ran out of players. I mean we didn't have a single point guard. No big deal.

My only complaint is that Grant played too much, but considering that we had no one else, I understand. Now that the deadline is over, I want Grant and Brogdon's minutes cut in half.

So who are Darren and Thompson????
