Blazers 5th quarter radio show is trying to compare Coach Billups with Spoelstra, Phil Jackson & Steve Kerr.

... i'm having issues with the spin. Just start blurping out famous NBA names, and Blazer fans will believe you ?

What was the context?

Ant played his worst game as a Blazer against the worst team in the NBA.....embarrassing Grant and Walker were terrible, Matisse can't shoot anymore. I couldn't watch the 4th qtr again. I won't cheer for the tank

pregame hype up the Blazers

Blazers radio comparing Dalano Banton to Magic Johnson. "the comp is there, the dude is 6'9" and can play all 5 positions"

i switched the channel, there's only so much that Blazer fans can take

What was the context?
the context was, Chad Doing & his radio companions will say ANYTHING to make Portland resemble a top tier NBA franchise.

Banton = Magic Johnson ?
Coach Billups = Phil Jackson ?

Too many bad Blazer defeats, seems to have caused temporary insanity within the PR department.

we can watch the 50/50 official game highlights. It always looks better when the Blazers are making shots.

or... we can watch Nick Richards highlights, to get a better idea of the actual game flow in this contest.

Chad Doing is not a Blazers employee and his show has nothing to do with Blazers PR. He works for the radio station that happens to cover the team.

That's not context, that's your opinion of what you heard.

In what context did they say that about billups? Please answer the question.

Blazers radio were having a "players coach" discussion, then compared the most talented coaches in NBA history with Coach Billups

By what metrics? How did they word it? I wish they had a podcast of this I'd listen to it and stop asking what the context is lol

i'll post it in a bit... that 5th quarter show is going nuts! The worse the Blazers look, the more gold coins get tossed to fans

team work, it's important. If the Blazers listen to that radio show, they might think they're about to win a championship.

people bragging up Ayton's defense should watch that video and brag a lot less

It wasn't just Ayton, i saw some plays where Jerami Grant just stood there and did nothing defensively.

We're getting close to tank time, the same thing happened with Grant's defensive effort late last season. While it's strange to watch, Jerami is a master at improving the ping pong ball.

Of the baskets they showed (in order)
  1. Ayton stepped up to stop the ball and nobody rotated behind him.
  2. Ayton showed to help Grant and didn't recover in time, nor did he get help. 50/50
  3. Murray gets beat, Ayton helps, nobody rotates
  4. Transition bucket, Ayton not involved
  5. Ayton switched on the PnR, nobody came over to pick up Richards
  6. Ayton and Ant are both defending the ball, Ayton probably should've dropped back off and fould Richards
  7. Transition dunk, Ayton isn't on the floor
  8. Ayton shows, ball goes to Richards at the block, Ayton forces Richards away from the hoop as he hits a 7ft hook shot. Not sure what Ayton is supposed to do differently there
By my account, 1 poorly defended play, another 50/50, and the rest seemed like they were either no fault of anyone or a failure to help by his teammates.

What was the quote that seemed way out of line to you?
nothing is "out of line". This season is a comedy. No holds barred on this stage. Have fun with it! If the radio wants to compare Dalano Banton with Magic Johnson, go for it! It makes me laugh

Blazers are 47-18 all time against Hornets. With a .723 win percentage, Charlotte leads the way as the Blazers most victimized opponent in team history.
I wonder what that means. The Bobcat Hornets or the Muggsy Hornets that became Pelicans? Or the Hornets before they became Pelicans and then the Bobcats when they became Hornets?

Somebody tell the Uber driver that if I’m not mistaken, when the ORIGINAL Charlotte Hornet relocated to NOLA, they were about to keep all their history and records like the Sonics did. Maybe that will help him.

Probably a combination of all the above

I don’t believe so. I think they held on to their historical stats.
was it the Hornets or Bobcats that played some games in OKC's brand new arena?

After Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Hornets, played like half their “home” games at OKC. I think that was Chris Paul’s rookie year.
