Both his feet slid/moved. The fundamentals of basketball that is a travel. If you don’t know then you obviously haven’t played much hoops. Which is fine. If you don’t know you don’t know.
but as I said, glad it wasn’t called.

Definitely NOT a travel. Your hoops card has been revoked.

Dragging/sliding the foot or not, all that matters is that dope dolphin kick during the shot. Or was it a scissor kick? We need to see more of it in different situations to be sure. Throw that into a couple tip dunks and Scoot will have his signature move. I suppose it has to be a scissor kick then, because dolphin sounds nothing like Scoot.

We may have waited too long.

Pretty sure that the entire league knows Ant is streaky as hell and this was a very bad night. Given that Scoot’s average plus/minus is -6.3, I’d say that the opposite was true for him last night.

This is not a travel.

doesn't look like a travel, at least not one that is ever called in the NBA. According to the letter of the law he may have traveled on his dribble drive out near the FT line, but that's rarely called as well

He is prone to foul trouble though. I agree. Keep Ayton a bit longer and let ClingKong adapt a bit more.

yeah, he's fouled a lot, but he had 1 foul last night. There is no 'he's-foul-prone' justification for Ayton getting 34 minutes and a healthy 7th pick getting 14 when the 7th pick has one foul

PER: Ayton 17.6....Clingan 17.7
TS%: Ayton .576....Clingan .580
FT Rate: Ayton .094....Clingan .210
TotalRebRate: Ayton 18.1%....Clingan 20.1%
OffRebRate: Ayton 10.2%....Clingan 18.0% (Capela leads the NBA at 16.3%; Clingan 18% rate is much higher)
Reb/100-possessions: Ayton 16.1....Clingan 18.6
OffReb/36: Ayton 3.5....Clingan 6.2 (Cingan 3rd in NBA)
BlockedShotRate: Ayton 2.8%....Clingan 10.0% (only Wemby is higher at 10.8%)
Blocks/100-possessions: Ayton 1.4....Clingan 5.1 (Clingan again 2nd to Wemby)
OffRating: Ayton 113....Clingan 115
DefRating: Ayton 115....Clingan 111
Winshares/48: Ayton .089....Clingan .112
BPM: Ayton -1.9....Clingan -1.5

Min/game: Ayton 30.3....Clingan 16.4

across the board, in just about every impact stat there is, Clingan is better than Ayton. Clingan is an elite rebounder, especially on the offensive end, and an elite rim protector.
Looking at those numbers, all the obviously lame excuses like "not in shape" and "foul-prone" can not justify the disparity in minutes between these two C's

now, it could be suggested that if Clingan was, for example, to average 25 minutes, all those rate numbers above might drop. But we can't know that until it happens, if it even does. But the first time he played over 25 minutes this season he had 17 pts, 12 rebs (6 off), and 8 blocks. The 2nd time, 19 rebs-3blks. He's only played 20 minutes or more 5 times and hasn't hit that threshold in more than a month

If the Blazers are 'showcasing' Ayton it's a stupid plan that won't work. If they aren't, they are stunting the development of a high upside big man

Story of the game is Bjorkgren having the balls to bench Ant and Grant in crunch time. I notice he got them to 30 minutes exactly then immediately yanked them for the rest of the game.
.
He did get a little lucky that Scoot hit the game-winner....because he had taken Shae out with 29 seconds to go. He probably thought he could put him back in after a timeout but he never called one. If they had lost with Sharpe sitting on the bench for the last shot, we would be having a different conversation.

Scoot played very well last night as did Ayton, but damn Sharpe and Deni both played exceptionally well. Very entertaining game.

Great move to NOT call a timeout. Don't let the defense get set.

By the way….. I have 15 camera angles that show his right foot that was supposed to be his pivot foot….. dragged about 2 feet on his initial plant. Definitely traveling but very happy they didn’t call it. Happy for scoot.

I'd be telling him good job for coaching a competitive game.

Or have him play and learn how to play without fouling during a meaningless season? I don’t get why people feel like we have to nurse these guys along so much. Clingan scoot Shaedon camara should all be playing a ton of minutes.

Fwiw no mention of a travel on Jazz forums. Of course they were delighted he made it

Now imagine them with a coach that develops talent, runs offensive sets and makes in game adjustments.
It's getting annoying watching the third quarter start and we are running the same 3man weave/pick and roll that we run ALL THE TIME!
To get the minimum use out of Scoot he needs to be learning how to direct an offense in halfcourt sets. Not whoever gets the rebound turns and goes as fast as possible (although I do see how good Deni is at it). Train Scoot to play like Mike Conley and I think he could be pretty good. I know he's not Mike Conley-esque.

Wow. Okay. All im saying is we need a second big man until he plays 36 minutes consistently without fouling out. Maybe he is there now? We wont know until we see it and it happens. Keeping ayton for the year will not hinder anything.

Yes of course. But until he learns…

for the most part they are playing big minutes. Two of those guys you named currently start. Remember last year when we ran Sharpe into the ground?
Being sensible with minutes doesn't mean you are nursing players….

Duop would be fine as the backup big. Hell I'd even be ok with Jabari Walker.

We have zero need for Ayton in the rotation, it's super annoying his huge minutes prevents Clingan from playing.

Yep. Remember when Ayton and Ant were out
and Clingan had 17/12 and 8 blocks in a win? More of that please! He’s not being given the chance!

16 mpg for Clingan isn’t sensible. Unless he has some secret health issue going on. Scoot getting 26 mins isn’t even enough. Work out the kinks when games don’t matter. Stupid that Simons and Ayton and Grant are taking minutes from them at all.

Showcasing for trades? Im not gonna judge when i don't know all the inside thinking. Either way. Not upset or annoyed like some. I just don't see it near as detrimental as some claim it is.
career? Yes. Rookie season? Not an issue.
