He’s to expensive to come off the bench! Whats wrong with ya.. no nba player who makes Simon’s money comes off the bench. It’s unheard of

Really not sure what the hell I'm supposed to root for with this team. We're clearly not getting a good pick. Clearly not good enough to make the playoffs. Clearly not playing the young guys in Scoot Sharpe that Cronin said the franchise was building around. Clearly will be stuck with our crappy vets like Grant for many years.

Clearly seems like I should stop following this directionless franchise. Question why I subject myself to the torture.

This is the frustration a lot of fans are having with this team. Thank you for saying it so eloquently

I don't know that can call it a lot of fans. Yes, in this forum, there are a about 5-10 of you that post this multiple times a game and it feels like a lot of people, but that's just an echo chamber. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see certain players over others too, and that’s totally normal. But being consumed by that desire and trying to spread the frustration to others? That’s a different story.

Most casual fans just check out and do other things with their lives. The 10 of 11 wins brought some back but that's now ended.

Rose Garden has huge sections that are empty this year outside of Lakers fans filling it up when they come to town.

He had them in the game in the 4th quarter with us up 40+. You think they should’ve stayed in the game to the end? That’s kind of insult. They’re not garbage time players. That’s what Banton and McGowens are for.

you're the only person making that argument and you're taking both sides and arguing with yourself....get a grip

I guess at this point we just root for wins and hope the team is within a few wins of the playin at the end of March?

Probably better to get the experience playing games that matter than worrying about our #10 pick dropping to #12.

an exception to a general rule doesn't necessarily disprove the rule

besides that, his salary this season is an aberration. His salary last season was 17.4M and his salary next season is 15M. Apparently it was legal to front-load his contract in such a manner. His previous deal paid him 17.4M/year. His new deal averages 16.8M/year; and over the next 4 years averages less than 16M/year. A 1 year blip doesn't alter that reality

further, his new 5-year/84M deal is not fully guaranteed. Only 48M is guaranteed; and that only for the first 3 years; and only 23M is guaranteed over the next 2 seasons, . This was a very team-friendly contract and not too many starters have a 5-year deal with only 57% of the contract value guaranteed. That's definitely a back-up level contract

not the same as making Simons a backup at 28M; or Grant at 33M/year; or Ayton at 36M

absolutely wasted season! Played your vets who supposedly aren’t part of the future and not starting your two corner stone franchise players. Makes absolutely no sense. Also by playing your vets you’ve secured a mid to late lottery pick, out fuvking standing! Don’t learn from the San Antonio’s of the world.

oh and the value of one of your highest paid players Grant is dropping like the stock market crash of 1929. Most likely have to attach a late first rounder to dump his salary during the summer

An exception to the rule proves that the rule is not "hard and fast", but flexible. Point is, Aldo claims that top-2 salaries on a team will "ALWAYS" start, and that's clearly not true. Grant and/or Simons being reserves would also be exceptions to the rule, but it's not as though exceptions don't exist.

Does the Trail Blazer organization know? They seem just as confused. What team comes out with a set of 3 glasses for bench players?

I'm not going to defend Aldo's absolutes

but I will say I can't ever see Simons or Grant or Ayton as bench players as long as Chauncey is coach and Cronin is GM

Thank you..

I don’t know why these homers keep bitching about Simon’s needs to come off the bench. Ayton and Grant for that matter as well.

ITS NEVER HAPPENING!

These guys get paid over 100 and 120M dollars each! It’s unheard of for players to come off the bench for that type of money..

They could literally all suck balls and it still won’t happen..

Half your starters on the nba are basically your top paid guys.. like I said before ugly unwritten rule in sports

Simons, Ayton and Grant will always start on this team with this coach/management/ownership regardless of their performance/stats. I am sure more than a few non-fans who follow the game closely are scratching their heads with regards to this team's direction.

It's funny to me that the same people who are happy about the stupid wins this season are the SAME PEOPLE who argued for years that we shouldn't trade Dame.

You were wrong then and you're wrong now.

I think we traded Dame around the right time. I liked Dame but we needed new direction. Problem is not sure we have a new direction. We’ve added some nice pieces but not trading Ant and Grant at trade deadline was huge mistake. These meaningless wins while our two franchise players sit is just one of the dumbest things I’ve seen a franchise do. Going to come a point where these young guys check out and potentially decide this ain’t the place for them to advance their careers. No way in hell Scoot shouldn’t be starting, and I still think Sharpe would be better off in starting lineup. Defensively he sucks and effort is questionable but his offense is top level potential.

Long athletic two way wings

Definitely more emphasis on defense with players

I legit think we have a direction for the first time in a long time

For sure, but there was people who were adamant up until the very end that Dame should stay. And those people were the same people who are now happy with these meaningless wins.
