Still has to figure it out on defense and get a bit tighter with his handle.
He had that one defensive possession where he D'd up the ball around halfcourt and really hounded the guy. But there were a lot of moments where he got beat too easily, I remember one time he and a teammate collided and I think Coulibily got a dunk, and I thought he fouled Smart on the 3 where there was no call and Smart got T'd up. His anticipation is spotty; he made a great read on the steal for the dunk of the year. It's just odd, because he was so good during the tank stretch his rookie year.
He'll get a lot longer leash if Deni's out. Maybe his offense will translate to him playing better defense.
The play that stood out for me was, from now-blurry memory, about 90 seconds into the 4th quarter, out of a dead ball situation, Sharpe was scratching his head like he wasn't sure who he was guarding, then ran to the perimeter to try and cover Carrington (I think) on an easy 3.
Even his explanation of the insane dunk suggests that not a lot of thought goes into his play. He just reacts with what comes naturally. And on defense, that results in a lot of chasing the play.
