Bright side: I really liked Clingan and Tou tonight.

As I said, look at how long the other G-Leaguers took. That's probably how long it'll take Scoot. I like that drive.

Wonder when Scoot will take the Blazers fan whipping boy role away from Ant?

Yeah, I’ll let it breathe before I completely write him off. But from my glimpses it looks like he hasn’t put any work in.

Some players make it as far as they do because they just dominated against lower level players.

My take so far is his shot selection still sucks, his mechanics are still clunky and his passes are still lazy

This x1000.

He hasn't shown that he can be a positive factor against other NBA players.

Anyone else getting "technical difficulties" on their league pass feed?

Yeah, the end of the game got cut off. Fucking assholes.

From what I saw, Scoot looks like the same as last year. Same problems. Would have looked better if some shots went in, but I’m more concerned with the awareness, lack of BBIQ, and generally how useless he looks without the ball.

Banton taking the last shot? Yuck. Definitely some positives from the first game and obviously some negatives. I really liked DC and Toumani this game. I’m not really a Banton fan. On to the next. Go Blazers!

DC had the worst +/-

Another thing about Scoot that’s always bugged me while we’re piling on..

He always looks like he’s going a mile a minute. Like almost ADHD on the court.

Which to me, reeks of lack of basketball IQ

Now he’s in the league of the greatest athletes, can’t get away with being the best athlete among sup par ones.

For me tonight he felt so passive. Constantly settling. Not trying to get an advantage on the defender. Letting the defender dictate his pace. I'm not too worried about the shooting. I'm more concerned that he's an average or less than average at beating his defender off the dribble and can't get up exceptionally.

Troubling...

Our rookie 7-2 center, in his first game, shot way better from the floor and the 3-point line than Scoot Henderson, who has a full NBA season under his belt. Henderson is a bust. Period. This is the kind of game he should have been able to dominate, but instead he looked even worse than he did last year.
Dude….

Not a lot you can take from this. It's the first preseason game. The Clippers announcers said they thought we looked sharper than most teams would after two weeks of just intrasquad activities. Honestly, that was probably fair; we weren't turning the ball over a ton and we were solid defensively for the most part until about the last 8 minutes.

Obviously, Scoot's going to be under the microscope. If he's still having a problem finishing and being consistent with his jumper, I really want to see him at least attacking, drawing fouls and getting to the line -- that's one thing he should be able to do while trying to develop the other areas.

I thought Murray played pretty well.

I hope how we defended that high pick and roll isn't indicative of how we'll do it in the regular season. The Clippers ran it over and over in the last 8 minutes and were able to get the ball within 8 feet of the bucket. But you can't tell about the intensity and such, because it's just game one of the preseason, so it might not mean anything.

Why does Scoot continue to jack up shots at such a high rate, like he's Damian Lillard? He's the primary reason we lose most nights with his awful efficiency. 4-16 3 assists and 7 TOs.

Scoot would have benefited from playing in college and being coached. He has been more or less a rat ball player in his own gym and g league.
Agree, but problem is with Billups still here will he even get coached decently? and will he accept coaching and criticism and use it to improve - I have some doubts on that, hope i am wrong

Some positives I saw:
  • Tou looked really nice
  • Our centers were hitting 3s
  • Rupert looked a lot quicker and more decisive than I remembered him
Like everyone else I was disappointed that Scoot still is so raw, making poor passes, not playing to his strengths, and just being underwhelming in general. Bummer.

I guess it's good that there's a ton of good point guards in this draft.

This is the stuff that will drive me absolutely crazy this year. This team actually traded a HOF PG to draft a PG that now obviously isn't up to the task so now they are going to tank again to get another PG. What's worse? That HOF PG still loves this place and wants to rep it like his very own.

Henderson is a bust. Period.

I wonder how many times I will read this this season?

Wonder when Scoot will take the Blazers fan whipping boy role away from Ant?

That seems to have already happened?

I’m more concerned with the awareness, lack of BBIQ,

I know I can go back to last year and find this quote.

In the end I figure I can just copy and paste this game thread for the next 82+ games because not much will change.

Just heard Nick Saban say “no discipline, disappointment.
