Game Thread 2024-25 PRESEASON - BLAZERS @ KINGS - OCTOBER 13, 2024 - SUNDAY - 3:00 PM PST - NBA LP, Blazervision

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

I don't know how many winning players we have, but one thing we have done is transformed the roster. We have so much length now and seemingly 60 million 6-7 to 6-9 swing forwards.

Scoot drawing fouls and then played great to end the half.

One thing about a guy like him that not everyone has is that he's so athletic he can do a lot of damage in a hurry.
Yes, if he would put it together he could be incredible very quick.

Looks like we might have a deep bench for a change...having a great bench is going to be fun to watch. .

I am not seeing how Grant and Simons fit in to this season. Win more with them? Yes probably but in terms of development and chemistry I am not seeing the fit. Gone at the deadline?? I still say 25m a year for Anfernee and his offensive talents ain’t bad.

Defensively, he was holding his own with Sabonis and outplayed Len on both ends.

When he gets an NBA body, he's going to be a real thorn in the side of the opposition.

he already has the body. He needs to work on his conditioning. Completely winded after 6 minute stints

They don't fit at all. They will only hold back our development.

Better hope the next couple teams whoever we’re playing do the same.

nice drive by Scoot, this tall lineup seems to be giving Kings trouble. How ironic only ONE guy on court under 6 feet 8 inches!
Unreal, Banton in so no Blazer player under 6'8
We started the game with Scoot, 6-9, 6-9, 6-9 and 7-0.

I really like the size of some of the options they have out there. Get some growth from the young players and add a Flagg/Bailey/etc next year and I think this team starts to actually 'grow'.

Murray 3 hit the side of backboard..lol

Murrey is good for at least one complete brick a game. He still looks too squared up to the basket and it is causing his shooting motion to come across his body.

Scoot is driving but he never looks likely to complete a layup in traffic.

I have to wonder, is there any skill Scoot is actually good at? it seems everything is a work in process, from a number 3 pick it's very discouraging

Boxscore has Scoot with only one TO - I swear I saw at least 3

Really need to see some improvement in outside shooting, ability to finish and use of his left hand. Haven't seen anything in just a couple of games that looks like much of an improvement from last season.

Toumani is so good

The kid does have the ability to fill up the stat sheet. Not great at anything offensively, but solid in a number of areas and his hustle and acumen on the defensive end are very valuable.

I feel this is going to be how a lot of the season goes.

No, not blowout wins, but segments of play where you're like "WTF? why isn't this the norm!?!?"

Good game so far. Like I said, Scoot looks better, but his shot is still a WIP.
People are gonna surprised how competitive we try to be and actually are. Expecting a tank is questionable to me.

So didn’t watch the game or look at the box score. But from the vibe in this game thread Scoot looked pretty good.
But no sign of the “Scoot is a bust!” crowd?
Should we expect this all season. Because a young kid playing PG with only 60 games under his belt is going to be definitely up AND down all year.
Just wondering if they will only chirp about the negatives?

I am genuinely curious what Deni's shot chart looks like with Ant and Grant getting up shots in the starting lineup. When Grant gets it, that ball is going up.

I was hoping to see Grant traded. Depending on how this filters out,I could see a need to trade Grant becoming very urgent...

But that's what we want! It serves the dual purpose of making us less likely to win (Grant managed to have a negative +/- yesterday somehow) and padding his stats to tempt unwise GMs.

If you watched the game you'll see he still looks like a chicken with his head cut off. He still gets stripped every time he drives into traffic. It's still a miracle if he hits a layup under pressure or any kind of jump shot. If another team just looked at the boxscore of night's game and made an offer for Scoot I'd jump at it.

What I have learned the first 2 games

If we want defensive stops, don’t put Clingan in. He is a difference maker on defense, and may cost us a better chance at a higher draft pick

Scoot needs to learn how to play basketball. He has enough athleticism to be Westbrook lite, but at this point has no idea how to use it

You can see Deni is going to be very frustrated already. We run a shitty dribble dominant offense, and that is not his game….or Clingans for that matter

Grant is already Granting

Ayton looks engaged at this point

Was real rooting for Murray to take a bigger step than he has so far. Good basketball IQ, but can’t seem to shoot yet

The kid jumped to the g league after his junior year in HS and really and had an up and down run and gun time in the g league. It's going to take him at least two more years to polish his game enough to where he's more comfortable and consistent. Which, actually fits their plan for the rebuild.

College would have done him so much better than that failure of a program.
