Game Thread 2024-25 PRESEASON - EXHIBITION - BLAZERS VS ULM - OCTOBER 16, 2024 - 7:00 PM PST - NBA LP

ULM is trying to come back. Blazers better wake up.

How does ULM get challenges? They aren't an NBA team.

The Blazers have the most confusing looks on their faces when they commit fouls.

They just said that 620 was the "home of the Kraken (in Portland)"..

What are they going to do on days where they both have games?

like, Nov 2nd, 8th, 12th, 17th, 20th, 25th, 27th, etc...

They better dump (and yes I said dump) the Filma Kraken onto another station during days where they both play.

Blazers always supersede. At least that’s how it’s been in the past.

How is this German team keeping it close?

I don’t have the energy to find a feed for the game.

Hitting lots of threes. Blazers fouling.

Obviously, a very good performance for Scoot. Did everything well. Something he should be able to build on.

Honestly, I wonder how much of this is just in his head now. Ulm is pretty good for a Euro club team. In the 2H, Scoot just did what he wanted, got to the basket at will.

Noa Essengue will definitely play in the NBA. Looks like a player, a bigger, much better Banton. Only 17.

This game was ragged. ULM played at 100 mph and swarmed on defense and shot threes every chance they got. It was not a game that suited Clingan, for example, and it meant a lot of opportunities for our larger, more athletic players to go it alone, so the assist totals are not great for us. Basically it looked like an all-star game, and I don't think we can learn much from it other than Scoot looks great when the defense isn't set.

This team looked better than the Kings. I was at the game and followed every detail of both.

gotta mention before the haters wake up and see we won again
This is one of the most intriguing seasons in recent memory. Aside from Grant and Thybulle, each player could make some sort of leap, and how much of a leap the different players make is extremely interesting to me. My guess is that we'll win somewhere around 33 wins. I understand that's not enough for some. But this team is so young, that growth trumps playoffs this year.

We need a game thread for tomorrow. I can't believe we only have one pre-season game left.
There is no chemistry right now on offense. Rotation-wise, they need to treat the Utah game like it counts, at least for the first 3 quarters.

Scoot is playing under control tonight. Having a very good game

I'm probably not the first person to think this, but he has good games when he's playing sub-par competition...

Hopefully, and I'm only somewhat confident in this, the days where the teams both play, there is zero Krappen broadcast stuff on 620, unless the games are *hours* apart (I.e., one game at noon, the other at 7)

I would guess that they would move simultaneous Kraken games over to 1190 (iHeart Media's only other AM station).

This is concerning, it's Nurkic-like level of shitty around the rim finishing

man you're 7-3, dunk the fucking ball

Doesn't everyone?

I just think he played "slower" than he normally does, but with a change of speed. He didn't try to force things as much.
I assume that if ULM had better rim protectors, his shooting percentage would have been worse, but besides that he just seemed more relaxed and methodical. Low bar for sure, but none-the-less he has looked better each game.

Concerning might be a bit of an overreaction. It's his 3rd game. In his other 2 games, he was 8-14, and in those games he was 7-9 from 2.

So maybe, tamp down the concern?

You watched something that I simply didn’t see in those highlights. I counted one time he was in a position to dunk and chose a finger roll that missed. The first one he made which was Nurks problem. The rest were either contested or defensive rebounds?

You “guess” 33 wins? You believed this amount of talent and our current situation will honestly lead to 33 wins?
