Have any of you actually looked at the numbers? People didn't come out in droves to vote for him, he actually has fewer (by 3m which still might come in) votes this time around than he did in 20. So what was different in raw numbers, Biden got 15m more votes than Harris did. Now you could say that 71m people are racist, sexist, morons (or whatever other lazy thing you want to blame) or you could look at who she is as a candidate. How did she do in the 2020 primaries ... horribly. She disappeared as VP for 3 1/2 years until the Dems forced Biden out and her in because they knew he was going to get destroyed and isn't fit to running. Not only did they not spend the last 4 years grooming her, it felt like they actively tried to hide her. Why did they choose her as a running mate in 2020, maybe it's because of her strong political ties, or maybe it was to benefit from her gender/race in the election and once that was of no longer of use, they hid her away. To the point that my wife voted for Biden/Harris last time, partially as a vote against Trump but also because she wanted to vote for a woman. About two years ago we had a conversation about 'where did Harris go, we never see her anywhere' and then it became a talking point in our house until they propped her up. Some of us tried to tell you that she wasn't connecting, that she spoke a bunch of 'word salad' that had zero nutritional value and it wasn't going to work with undecideds. Her one shining moment was the debate where it seems like she ran circles around him but it didn't help from an optics standpoint that that is the one of the few times she really sounded well spoken and it just so happened that one of her best friends runs the news division of the company that hosted the debate. I don't think she was fed anything but would it shock me based off the rest of her campaign, not in the slightest.
Now I know what you're thinking, you can't wait to blast me because Trump is a lot of the same things I've claimed Harris to being and some much worse things. I don't understand the Cult of Trump, I don't think I ever will but he strikes a cord with people, good and bad. There is no middle ground with that man, there is no apathy and that's why he gets about the same number of votes in the 3 elections. There was apathy with her, she tried to run on a platform of 'Orange Man Bad' and we need change, when her name has been on the ticket in the White House for the last four years. That was not a 'brilliant' campaign strategy. Yes we can debate how much power the VP actually has, but her trying to be the 'change' candidate was never going to resonate with those in the middle.
One interesting note, the county I live in is 95% Hispanic. Going back as long as I could find the state election results by county, it has never been a red state when it comes to the Presidential election. In some years the Democrat has won by as many as 30 points. Trump won this county. Results like this and at the House/Senate levels should tell you that people don't resonate with what the DNC is pushing.
