Seems like Love is getting a lot of criticism when you consider who he is. He goes undrafted and only gets signed as a side note to a two way contract. Now he's a vital piece to the team as a scorer off the bench. He's plays good defense and has the toughness to take and hit some big shots. I wouldn't say he's won any games on his own, but he's definitely had a couple nights where we would have been in trouble without him.
I don't know what happens to him when guys get healthy. He won't take minutes from the vets like Jrue and eventually Dame. A case could be made to play him over Cidy and I think Scoot will have to earn what he gets even more so now with how Love has played.
One last thing, he's not a PG. Just because he's the shortest guy on the court doesn't automatically mean he's the PG. I think the only true PG to get minutes this year has been Jrue. (BTW - Deni really needs to improve his handle if he's gonna be counted on this much to facilitate) Right now he's what this team needs: a good shooter, decent ball handler, big enough to be effective in the defensive scheme, tough mentally and physically. As much as anything else, he's shown that he can more than handle the big moments and hasn't looked like a rookie.
If anything, he'll have some value as a trade piece if that time comes. Seems like a damn good return for going undrafted, no matter what he does from now on.
