well, I have a small wood shop too; and had been a contractor for nearly 40 years doing a lot of my own carpentry. I've been lucky...still have all my fingers...but I have collected some significant scars

table saws are the worst; so much torgue and blade speed and you have to push wood toward the blade. Can't daydream when using a table saw or they'll be calling you stubby
I like woodworking but my last table saw was built by my late father in law from one of my skill saws. I left it in Taiwan with him when we moved back to Oregon. Now I do mostly bench work but I used to do a lot of carpentry and my best friend was a fine cabinetmaker. I know a lot of carpenters missing fingers. When I was young I studied with a luthier to learn to build mandolins and built 3 of them before I realized I'm not good enough to be a luthier. I can build a hell of a deck though. I like to build toys for the grandkids at times.

yeah, those look nice but they are extremely expensive. A mid range contractor model is nearly $3,500. Their supposed jobsite (portable) model is $1,900 and it weighs 113 pounds. I don't know about you, but 113 pounds doesn't seem very portable to me

as a hobbyist you'd need a lot of projects on the docket to justify that kind of expense
Is it strange I don’t own a saw of ANY kind? The only wood I’ve ever needed to deal with, I just call @julius sister! #BAM

Boy is this awkward, my sister died 3 years ago. We're wondering where her body went.

Nope, you are a city boy. I am not even sure you know how to make coffee by yourself. Wouldn't trust you next to a coffee machine without supervision honestly.

Last time I checked, I think I have 7 chainsaws around here... At least 2 skill saws, a miter saw or two, a table saw and all kinds of other things that cut stuff.
