it's way too early in the season to gauge much of anything but so far, Clingan + Yang have averaged 32 minutes. That's probably close to what will happen in the season. 12-15 minutes of small-ball for Portland. The Warriors aren't the only team that goes small

Yeah yang is gonna get played off the court quite a bit but you got to at least play him a bit so he has something to learn.
 
For now, yang cant go up against these bigs. Having your prized rookie relegated to garbage time isn't making him any better. He needs to play as much as possible so it may have to be the Remix. There is nothing wrong with that.

I understand that and maybe he'll get 20 minutes tonight. Really doubt it but possible I guess

my point was based upon a few factors: The gap between Clingan and Yang in established skills and impact is massive; Murray is a better C than Yang right now; same for Timelord if he's ever able to play. And whether it's 16 minutes a game of small-ball for Portland or 10, there just won't be a lot of minutes for Yang after Clingan gets his 25-30 minutes a game. And so far, he looks about as far from ready as a rookie can be. I take that back....Nolan Smith set the record for 'far from ready'

I'll admit it: I'm a Yang skeptic. He's going to have to prove my skepticism wrong

It’s fair to be a skeptic, certainly, and I was a bit disappointed in his GSW shift. But Yang isn’t Ha out there either. I think he’ll improve plenty just by playing against DC in scrimmages, and I do think he’ll play as long as he’s not causing us major problems on the court.
 
looks like luka is out for a week/tomorrow. suddenly a trap game.

yeah reminds me of all those games last spring where we'd get the toothless versions of good teams and still lose a close one.

portland needs to be able to punish opposing teams for showing up injured or load managing their guys.
 
I’d fully expect this young team to run those geezers out of the gym. They shouldn’t be able to hang with our pace, or put up the effort to deal with 48 minutes of us hounding them on the defensive end.

Looks like beautiful weather too. Hope you have a fantastic time and if you are so inclined… just stay there until the championship parade next spring!!! :)
 
My fear with Yang is that he just isn't suited to the style we now play. But if it's a choice between playing this way and Yang getting minutes... well, sorry Yang.

Right now he really shouldn't be getting minutes. If Clingan gets injured, he'll get his chance, but fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

Wait? So they drafted a guy that isn’t suited to play the way they have been changing the team to play. I think you might be getting ahead of yourself here. Let the kid at least have a few months.
