I was thinking the same thing. He has to be scoring and scoring efficiently to have value. He just plays in such a way, and I've said this before, that I question whether he wants to be great or he's just a guy that's happy being good/very good.

We saw all that video of Scoot working in the offseason. I don't know how Scoot will turn out, but I know he wants to be elite. He knows what he needs to improve and he's working on it. I'd love to see what Shaedon does in the offseason.

Honestly think we are still getting our legs, you press 94’ all game every game going to take time to build up stamina. I still like what I’m seeing although not sure why Clingan wasn’t playing more.
 
We just have to be more efficient offensively. The effort is there on both ends but we don't have to be a great or even good shooting team to win these games our guys just have to show enough concentraction not to be a terrinle shooting team.

I think we can pull that off on most nights. Tomorrow we've got the Lakers without Luka or LeBron. GO BLAZERS!!!

I'm one of the biggest Shaedon fans, and I don't expect him to stay this bad, but it is becoming increasingly likely that he won't reach his potential. He's a good trade piece in a Giannis/Booker/Markannen deal.

You can't act like it's a big deal that you're checking out late in a game where we're struggling. If we would have been playing better you would have stopped commenting in the first quarter.

It's funny that you can tell people don't necessarily watch the game when they comment. To say that Sharpe was or is worthless is showing a lot of ignorance about the game. He actually was playing good defense, and he had 5 boards and 2 steals.

Yeah, his 3 point shooting was all but invisible (he really needs to have a decent shooting game soon), but it's not like the rest of the team shot great from 3. Take out his abysmal 1-9, and the rest of the team shot a whole....31% from 3.

We don't have that guy that gets us buckets when the game is on the line. That was Shaedon but he's always lurking at the 3 point line and keep shooting 3's.
 
As someone said earlier (I think on here?) remember how Deni started last year? People were ready to ship him off to Siberia for a bottle of vodka.
 
Shaedon will be fine. It's frustrating, but just think, if thus far he'd played as well as he did last season, we'd likely be 3-0.

I think the reason he's shooting as many 3's is that A: it's probably what he's being told to do and B: we saw how his drives to the hoop weren't as high and aggressive as usual.

It seems that there is something wrong with him. Could be as a simple as how they revamped the offense and he's actually playing defense, or worse. He's throwing his shooting % for gamblers.

His defense isn't good. It's better than it was, but it's not good, and it wasn't good tonight. He's still probably our weakest link on that end of the court, which is why you see other teams try to get him switched onto their best scorer more than anyone other than Clingan or Yang.

It's worth noting that someone who talks condescendingly about whether or not people know the game thinks that five rebounds and two steals is an indicator of the quality of someone's defense.

your example of him playing bad defense was how he defended two of the harder players to defend in the league? Not a single player on the team played good defense against Leonard of Harden tonight.
 
Sharpe just needs to slow it down a bit. Not force stuff early. Let the game come to him.

Like I said before I think if anybody on the team might be shaken by the Billups thing it is Sharpe (maybe Scoot too).

He started coaching them as pups and was trying to harness their talent. He was all they ever knew .
 
Let me be clear on this: I can take Shaedon being our worst defender so long as he's engaged on that end of the court because it's a big improvement on what we used to see from him, and we have a lot of really good defenders now that can carry that water. I don't believe he needs be a two-way standout. He just has to be decent.

HOWEVER, Shaedon is not getting on the floor to be a decent defensive player. He's not getting on the floor because he's a great ballhandler or passer. He's not either of those things. He's a highlight reel that has the potential as an explosive scorer. That's his one above-average trait. And that trait lacks value if he's shooting 30% overall, getting to the line fewer than six times and finishing most nights with more shots than points.

That's not hating on the guy. That's just being honest. Like I said, he can settle for good or work to be great. In the first three games, he's looked a lot like Perimeter Nurk, who teases you with the potential but doesn't seem to understand who he is and plays far too inconsistently for his talent.

Interesting that you avoided the point that the Clippers were trying to get Shaedon switched on Harden and Kawhi.

No one's going to stop those guys, but there are guys that are going to more consistently make them work and make them miss a few more shots. If you think that Shaedon is a guy like that right now, then I have to question how much basketball you've watched like you were saying you know who watches the games by their comments.
