I remember when the Blazers in the playoffs meant Portland's young guys could develop....how much did Scoot-Sharpe-Clingan develop?

Clingan shot 46 times in the series; 25 of those shots were 3's...he made 5. That right there is a reason to fire Splitter

Scoot-Jrue-Toumani were 7-30 on FG's this game. Add in Thybulle and the foursome were 8-36.....22%

Shaedon was either nursing an injury or Tiago robbed him of the opportunity to develop. Everyone on our team was letting guys get by them.

Maybe Shaedon was told to do specific things that he just wasn't doing but I think we would have been better with him getting more PT and in the long run like you said, it was an opportunity for him to develop but an opportunity missed or possibly wasted.

The Blazers took 47 three-pointers and made 11. 24%.

Scoot, who shot 46% on threes over the 5 games, only took 2 of those. and made 1.

Scoot ended the series shooting 50% or better on 3-pointers in 4 of the 5 games.

Shaedon was on a minutes restrictions they said a couple times, so I am guessing he was not 100% and if I remember right his was a calf injury. Look how many of those have turned into torn Achilles lately. So why risk it.
Yeah if he was nursing an injury that would make the most sense. Still too bad he couldn't get more playoff experience.

Wemby with only one foul is crazy
His 1st foul called with 6 mins left in the 4th.
Either the refs were favoring him or the Blazers did not challenge him at all.
You got to drive right at that guy and get him in foul trouble or at least punish him a bit.

It’s things like that that you look to for strength to improve in the off season. There were plenty of lessons learned in those 5 games.
I’d have rather had the pick but you can’t dismiss what these guys are thinking right now about what they need to do to improve.

I would still like someone to explain to me how Wemby came from one side of the key and wiped out Camara with his body and it wasn't a foul.
they usually officiate by 1st contact. If the defender touches the ball/hand first and blocks the shot, unless the rest of the contact is egregious it will be ruled a block

it's really pretty amazing Wemby was able to do everything he did with his balls in doris burke's mouth....sorry...was drinking during the game so I have no boundaries

Like Cissoko did.

We wanted to get to the playoffs to figure out what we were made of, and now we know.

Yeah that one was absolute bullshit. The body contact came first and they even reviewed it.

The review process is so flawed. These NBA refs think they're beyond reproach and we expect them to impartially review their own plays? Nah, they need to have a completely different pool of review officials off sight (like they already do) and those officials should be the only people reviewing coaches challenges, they shouldn't know the refs or talk to them. Just review, make the call and that's final.

Then these refs could have some metrics and accountability based on how many bad calls they make. Also coaches should be able to miss on up to two challenges before they can't challenge anymore and no amount of successful challenges should result in a coach having less challenges.

Wait? The fucking spurs are getting a new arena? That thing was built in like 2004?! And we’re crying over a remodel for a way older arena?!

Tiago said in his postgame interview that he chose not to play Shae. Said he wanted to stay positive and say that Sidy's defense gave us a better chance.

I think that's bullshit. Only 6 minutes and he had a quick hook for him all series. Shaedon has the second most scoring potential on the team and Tiago wasted that. Shaedon's defense just isn't bad enough to not give him more PT.

SMH.

All that "defense" sure paid off, with the result being a 20 point deficit, right? Even during the 3rd quarter in the last two games, this same defensive pressure lost the double digit lead.

People may tout some tired trope about defense winning championships. That's true, certainly. But at some level, this game is also offense based. If you don't have two 20ppg caliber players, don't even bother playing in the playoffs. Everyone else in the playoffs has this and utilized it.

Deni was one guy. Scoot showed some signs but is still very raw and has a tendency to get needlessly careless at this point in his career. Sharpe, on the other hand, demonstrated during the season that he could be a 20ppg next to Deni. If he can play 20 minutes, you play him 20 minutes with the hope that others will cover for him defensively and he'll contribute.

Otherwise, you don't even stand a chance at winning. Portland was, statistically speaking, the lowest scoring 3rd quarter team of all 16 teams in the playoffs. Neglecting that was disastrous, as showcased in two games.

Yup. Sharpe should have played way more

i dunno wtf to say to be honest.
i think Splitter got ultra exposed in the last 2 games in regards to his adjustment strategy when we are being pressed. aka, there is no plan b.
our shooting was absolutely woeful.
11-47 from 3, camara 1-7 , jrue 1-6, deni 1-6, clingan 2-7, matisse 0-5 etc
we had 19 more shot attempts than SA and lost by 19pts
clingan 5 rebounds
4 of our starters had 10pts or less
yang played 1minute and put up 2 3s, missed both.

at this point I cant really see much downside in cleaning the decks of this titanic.
grant, jrue, have to go.
matisse is expiring.
id like to re-sign timelord if we can. i think him and Deni seem pretty close.
Sharpe really needs to work on D, but with Camara on the court he can close a lot of gaps - but any improvement would be good.
scoot - i dunno, he went from having an out of this world game to being completely anonymous. i dont think he is good enough to be either an outright PG or SG, but could be good bench utility.
i still want clingan to lose like 20lbs of thicc and get more mobile. if he cant, i dont really want to watch the trainwrek evolution of another nurkic.

i dont know who is out there for us in regards to potential trades, but at this point i dont really care who comes in, im just sick of watching the same movie with the same cast over n over. the playoffs means we have our own 1st round pick for like the next 6 seasons or something. so drafting well is a huge priority. lord help us here.

whats the go on getting some euros on the team? id like to see more of their play style in our team, i dont think we gonna have the 'stars' to carry us, but we can damn well raise team cohesion and expand the playmaking.

I think Phil Jackson, Greg Poppovich, or Doc Rivers will not coach these blazers and do better against the Spurs than Tiago
