Honestly, I won't be surprised if both our picks show really well in summer league. I know I will be watching every game to see how they look against some better competition.

I hope this one doesn't haunt us like I think it's going to. Even if it wasn't ever a real option, it at least appears to have been possible.

Yeah that was an opportunity for the Blazers to get Hutchison, but i'm okay with Simons right now, kid has big Upside and some Dame and CJ in his Game

I think we are looking for impact players, whether they are veterans who are already impact, or kids who have a chance to be impact players.
So I feel a lot better about this pick than the Trent pick.
 
It will be interesting to revisit the draft after free agency. If we sign an SF or PF (moving Aminu back to the 3), then
it wouldn't be helpful to pick a rookie SF.

Seeing "flip-flop" reminds of something. He says this year that when you are drafting in the mid to low 20's that you gotta take a chance and go for highest possible ceiling. Then what was he doing last year when he picked Swanigan? Swanigan might eventually turn out to be a good roleplayer but i don't think there is anyone who would predict more than that from him.

Maybe hewas criticizing himself in his comments about drafting for someone to have an impact now, and they're likely out of the leaguein a year?

Maybe he learned his lesson. Maybe he picked Caleb because he was desperate to replace Meyers. Maybe he's a con man ;)

Well since he went to GS it's a guarantee he'll flourish.

Edit: He could easily replace Klay in the starting lineup if GS decides to let Klay walk.

Evans has a pretty low upside on offense. Career 51.3 TS% in AAC play on middling usage. Good instincts and competitiveness on D but played in a switching zone primarily which inflates his stl and blk rates.

GSW may have found a guy to play a role, but I think that's about it.

Memphis, Houston, Navy, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, UCF, USF, Temple, Cincy, ECU, UCONN... Not exactly the cream of the crop.

He wasn't exactly playing the greatest competition and having the #2 overall BPM in the AAC means jack shit. Where does he rank overall? Where would he be in the ACC, Big 12? He's also had 3 years in college, which means he should be more advanced than everyone else.

I don't think we'll regret it anytime. Nothing suggests he'll turn into anything spectacular.

Navy only plays AAC in Football. Patriot League (where CJ McCollum and Adonal "AF" Foyle have been preeminent players) is where they play almost everything else.
 
Fwiw the guy in that video who compared Simons’ shooting to Klay is KDs trainer, and has worked with other NBA players (Paul George, John Wall, Rondo, etc) and is known to incorporate analytics into his training. Pretty interesting guy. Name is Justin Zormelo for anyone that cares
