#24 Anfernee Simons

One thing I loved about Simons is how pure his shot is. When it's on it barely touches the net. That's a sign of great shooting potential. His shot looks a lot like Dame's too where it doesn't look like it takes a lot of effort to shoot from range or on the step back.

Yeah those highlights are all huge IMO. (The complete offensive package )

Quick easy stroke from deep
Good floater in the lane (aided by his long arms)
Good hops and finish on the dunk
Nice step back mid range shot
Good handles for a SG

We may end up giving Neil major props for this pick in a few years.

ESPN (Pelton) lists Simons as our interesting "player to watch":

Anfernee Simons | Guard

Having withdrawn from playing at the draft combine, Simons has never played a competitive game against NBA-caliber opponents as an early entrant directly from IMG Academy. So it will be particularly interesting to see how Portland's first-round pick deals with the jump in level of play. -- Pelton

Wiz Hot Take:
He has scored in double figures in both of the games on 53% shooting. Not a 1-trick pony, either.

Would he have been a top ten pick if he had gone to Louisville and not been a complete dud there? Troy Brown was nothing special at Oregon at all and managed to be a 15th pick.

It's pretty cool we got a top ten pick level player where we did.

Troy Brown looked good in SL

Same height as Simons, but with a 3 " less wing.

It was somewhat rhetorical. I was trying to point out that CJ is listed at 6'4", is listed as a SG, and is exactly the same height.

Yeah I figured that. I just wanted to emphasize.... again.... that Simons has an above average length for his height. Once he fills out a little bit and gets stronger, his size will be fine for a SG.
