It does happen. When I graduated from high school I was 6'1". When I hit 25, I was 6'4".

Some examples from NBA players that i know of:

-David Robinson was 6′7″ when he got recruited by the Navy .
-Dennis Rodman Was only 5' 10" when he graduated high school (as per his IMDB page)
-Scottie Pippen grew from 6'1 to 6'8 after high school.
-Paul George was 6'7 when he got drafted and grew to be 6'10. (bullshit?)
-Giannis grew from 6'8.5 to 6'11 after he was drafted.

I guess there are many more examples from players who were less famous.

Embiid.

Really like Simons, but right now he has ZERO assists in 3 games. We're starting to enter Yinka Dare territory (for you old folks).

Regarding Simons' lack of assists, I wouldn't be concerned. He's not playing much point, he's not being called upon to create for teammates a lot at this point and he's not forcing up a ton of horrible shots while missing open teammates. Considering his lack of seasoning, this is a very minor thing to be worried about.

Regarding Simons possibly growing a bit, I think he might, and it isn't because he's 19. It's because he looks like he is 14. He doesn't appear close to physical maturity yet.

Don't know if this has been posted--but Simon's has this video posted of him being picked by Portland.

Thanks. I saw one from another angle that mostly captured the other people in the room. His reaction is very understated--like his demeanor in games. Like Dame.

Oh okay I'd only seen the video of Simons walking through the room with his mom and crying. But not when they actually announced the pick.

I expect that Simons won't produce like Mitchell in his rookie year, but it sure looks like he might get the down there road.
Oh definitely. He's not going to start and average 20 a game or whatever. But, he has the skillset, and physical ability to get there someday. Since Golden State is running a train on the rest of the NBA for the next few years, it feels good to stock up on good young talent.

Certainly Simons has raised IMG's stock for the next few years. Probably won't be long term if NBA kills the one and done limit.
