Young is the kind of player who will put up impressive stats on a bad team, but his high volume/low efficiency approach will never have the kind of team success Curry has enjoyed.

That's my point. But it was an argument made by the Anti-Olshey clan.
 
Olshey is great in drafting Players, i give him 100% credit for that. But he's also a bad gm in free agency and contracts for Players imo. And sometimes to afraid to make a deal

Find me one person in ANY work force in ANY environment who hasn't made mistakes in a 6 years span. Its their job too but they don't get fired unless its all bad mistakes and no good, or more bad than good.

Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone would like to go back in time and make better choices at times, yet the GM bro is the only one who has to be Godlike Flawless, or OFF WITH HIS HEAD......

Id suggest for anyone who wants him fired now or prior to now, take a look at your own employment history and see if you have been flawless or if you could have made better decisions at times than you did.

Again, I will await patiently for someone to seriously say they are perfect at their job.

Some people around here set themselves up for disappointment with unrealistic expectations... its really that simple.

It is a well established principle that people who make no mistakes take no risks. No mistakes is good for air traffic controllers, bad for CEOs and general managers. Show me a general manager who has made no mistakes and I would guess his team record is round .500.

I would put money on Ainge saying yeah, I might have taken that or done that different. No doubt he has made many great decisions, but do you know of the ones he past on that maybe he feels he shouldn't have?

How about lets look at ourselves, which was what I was meaning. Calling out other people in other professions of which we do not have inside info on is pure speculation of not making mistakes or making mistakes. Not valid in this context.

Ainge has made some great decisions since 2007. Before that he was a terrible GM. He traded the 7th pick in 2006 to us for Theo Ratliff and Sebastian Telfair. Since 2008 do you realize that these are all 1st round picks he has made: JR Giddens, Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo, James Young, RJ Hunter, Guerschon Yabusele, Ante Zizic, and now Robert Williams (who has all kinds of issues already). If not for one miracle trade with Brooklyn he wouldn't have any of his higher draft picks that have done well either. I don't see that as perfect.
 
There is a difference between a GM who makes mistakes while executing a good plan, and a GM who has a bad plan. (or no plan)

The first GM can claim "I'm only human." The second just isn't very good at his job. Those of us who think NO falls into the latter category aren't going to be persuaded (or shamed) by the "everybody makes mistakes" argument.

There is a huge difference between making mistakes and not producing... Neil has been on the job over 6 years now and not made one trade involving a major peice... he is scared to take a risk... that’s might be ok far fans like you who like watching a mediocre product, but as I die hard fan I have greater expectations

It's the complacency that gets me. He's sleeping at the wheel. When he's out doing daily interviews on ESPN/NBA TV during SL games, Denver reshaped its financial picture and improved for the future. The optics just aren't good when he makes empty promises and patronizes anyone who hints at a criticism. You'd think with so much pressure from Dame, he'd do something. Instead all we hear are excuses. "Portland isn't a FA draw." "No other team is making deals (blatantly false)." etc etc

So you don't think he's had a pretty clear plan this summer? It's obvious they wanted to add shooting and they may have added too much at the expense of other things but that is definitely a plan they had. The other part of the plan (according to Olshey) was to add a vet with playoff experience. There is still time to do so.

Just because Olshey still believes in the Dame/CJ combo doesn't mean his plan is bad or that he has no plan. It's certainly your right to disagree with that plan but you could be just as wrong with that opinion as Olshey is with his.

His plan as he explicitly said was to add vets and wings.

He added two 19 yr old guards, and we got younger in the process. And the one tool he said was gonna be super valuable he will let expire.

Really? Your example is Denver? The GM that traded Donovan Mitchell for Tyler Lydon and Trey Lyles? The GM that traded Jusuf Nurkic and a 1st round pick for Mason Plumlee and then signed Plumlee to an expensive deal? The GM who just gave up a 1st round pick next year and mutliple 2nd round picks just to dump a bunch of expiring contracts? How does that help their future? So because Olshey isn't making stupid trades right now like Denver is he is asleep?

BTW, the Hawks GM was on during the game for the same amount of time and he completed a trade yesterday for Lin. I fail to see how spending 10 minutes a day in an interview means he is sleeping.

Shooting guard is considered a wing, and he added 4 of those (2 of which can play some SF).

As for the vets, there is still time to make trades. Just like there is still 12 days to get something done with the TPE.

What are you going to say after he lets them expire?

I could totally see the plan unfolding in front of my eyes and I hate it.

They’re going to get Biggie in the rotation because first round pick.

Then they’re also going to put Layman in the rotation because third year “jump.”

Neil will start hyping up the trade deadline, and then when that inevitably passes without a move, he’ll talk about how much more activity there is in the summer.

And round and round we go!

I’m not falling for it anymore.

And for the record it’s not all on Olshey. Paul should’ve fired him a long time ago. We’re still paying for 2016, yet Olshey is somehow still here.
