I think that's pretty reasonable, except for the fact they knew Nurk was going to be out most of the year and that they were taking their time with him. Obviously the Hood and Collins injuries weren't planned for.

As long as we're making unsubstantiated claims that's why I think Olshey was told to get out of the tax and failed and had to spin it that they wanted to keep Whiteside. I bet Jody was pissed that he couldn't get it done. It's a good thing for Olshey's sake that he signed an extension and Jody probably doesn't want to pay him to go away. It just doesn't make sense that she'd only want to save a little bit but not all.

I think that’s probably right. The rumor of discussions with Cleveland involving Whiteside and Bazemore for Love (with undoubtedly other pieces) would fit with that narrative. Cleveland would have had to eat way too much salary and tax.

I really don't understand why you keep banging this drum. Has "we didn't have any way to keep Curry" not been posted enough times for you to comprehend that it was never an option to have Curry instead of Simons?

The only way they keep Curry is if they make enough moves last year that through some miracle they ended up with the cap space to do. I really liked Seth, but I don't think he was happy here and I think he was gone even if they found the space.

Why wasn't he happy here? Never heard him say otherwise unless you have something to back that up. He was on a team that was in the playoffs which was his first time and went to the WCF.

Im not gonna look it up but I believe there were a few reports saying he basically felt under utilized and that he didnt know what his role was supposed to be.

Pretty sure because he didn't get that gem coffee company endorsement the guy he replaced had.

I don't blame him. Clearly Stumptown Coffee Company was a shame corporation set up so Paul Allen could funnel money to Shabazz Napier and circumvent the CBA. The Blazers did it for Bazz, why not for Curry?

There are more stories out there but he talks about his struggles finding his spot in the offense, and all that.

I thought a lot of his comments last year came off as he felt out of place. Just cause they went to the WCF’s last year doesnt mean he loved being in Portland.

That article is probably how pretty much every player feels coming into a new team, especially since he missed the previous season. I don't see anything negative in what he said. Wouldn't you expect an adjustment period if you changed jobs and you were put in a group with employees that had already been there and established their role?

Depends Ive worked at places who were very good at getting new employees into their role and feeling good, and Ive worked at places that werent.
There are a plethora of articles out there. I couldnt find any where he said he really liked being in Portland though. He also didnt seem to be jumping up and down to take a discount to stay. Dont know what your point is. Have you ever read anything saying he liked / loved it here?

I never made a statement that he was all ecstatic to be here so nothing for me to have to prove. I simply asked you a question based on you saying he was unhappy here. As for saying he wasn't willing to take a 5-6 mil discount to stay here only proves that he could and did get significant more money. He could have loved Portland tremendously and still would leave for the contract he got. It was also a Dallas team that gave him his first real opportunity and had an up and coming team with 2 young superstars in the making. Guys in his compensation bracket will likely always take the money if it is significantly better. If we had 10 mil a year to give him, i bet he would be here.

Yeah cause you know it would really benefit him to come out during the year and say I hate it here. When he had like no leverage to get out. Sure he appreciated his oppurtunity.

In terms of if he’d be here or not, neither of us know.
