That is our teams 3PT shooting percentage.

Batum.. 7/24 29.2%
Wesley. 6/14 42.9%
Roy..... 3/12 25.0%
Wallace 2/11 18.2%
Miller ... 4/8 50.0%
Rudy.... 2/8 25.0%

The key to having a chance of winning this series will be making 3 pointers in these last two games. If we hit a few more Dallas will have to guard them which will open up the inside for LaMarcus and Wallace.

The only steady player all series long has been Dre. IF we don't get out of the 1st round, some posters will point back to the fact that Dre has never made it past the first round in the playoffs . . . but Dre's the last player that should be blamed for that.

For game 6 - only Camby and Miller should shoot 3s!

We just need to shoot better overall as a team. That's what is killing us.

From downtown......BANG!

Gotta hand it to Dre for stepping up in the playoffs.

No doubt. If we don't find a way to work the long ball back in, we are sunk.

Miller is terrible on defense, and the stats reflect it. He's been solid offensively, though, in ISO sets, no matter how it bogs down the rest of the offense.

Small sample size.

Despite the 3 googles we were one of the worst 3 point shooting team during the regular season and finished below every playoff team except Memphis. We were at 34.5%.

This.......outside shooting was one of my biggest concerns going into the playoffs

Right, I know that. They're still shooting solidly below their regular season percentage. 3% is quite a lot. If you added 3% to their regular season percentage, they'd be 7th in the NBA. If you subtracted 3%, they'd be dead last.

Portland wasn't a good three-point shooting team in the regular season and shouldn't be expected to be in the playoffs. But they should be significantly better than this. More to point, rhey've had a ton of open three-point shots against some pretty bad Dallas perimeter defense, so should likely be above their regular season percentage, not 3% below.

But a 3-5% difference is just noise over a 5 game stretch. Just bad luck.

The thing is that it's not just 3pt shots, it's anything out of the paint. Ben Golliver from Blazersedge had a great post after the last game showing how streaky the team had been in the regular season vs the playoffs. He found that Portland was one of the more inconsistent teams, especially amongst playoff teams and that streakyness has only been worse in the playoffs. It's hard to be consistent when your bench play is like Russian roulete

Nate does a brilliant job getting open 3-point looks for players who can't consistently hit 3-pointers.

But hey, he is an NBA coach and we are mere fans - so who are we to 2nd guess?

I know -- imagine how bad we'd be WITHOUT the help of the goggles!

What "consistent" 3pt shooter is on this roster?

Easily the most disappointing to look at would be Rudy. His one redeeming quality (although, he is a decent passer) was his outside/3 point shot. Dude hasn't even been able to do that for the last two playoffs. I will not be surprised if after this season he is on another team or back in Spain. He really is no longer needed here.

What happened to the rookie who set the 3 point record?

Rudy just seems mentally fragile. If so maybe it is best we get rid of him sooner than later, don't want to get a new version of Nick Anderson or Cliff Robinson style playoff choker if we happen to be a contender one day.

Didn't he break Kerry Kittles record? Maybe the rookie 3pt record is a jinx!

I think he is not long for this country. He's basically Steve Kerr without the three point shooting. And with the ability to dunk. Assuming there is nobody within 10 feet of him. Oh and he also is a prima donna unlike Steve Kerr.

So he's like a luckier, handsomer version of the best guy playing at your local YMCA.

I recall the mikes saying that the shooting coaches were working on Rudy to change his shot release. I don't know if that might be affecting him. Mike Townsend just got released too.

What I wouldn't give to trade Rudy for a prime Steve Kerr.

I might trade Rudy for the Steve Kerr doing color commentary right now. He's 45 or so, but you just know he could still hit three pointers at an insane clip.
