I've worked with disabled stroke victims who were crackheads...I don't wish bad things for anyone but that drug kills addicts quicker than most substances.

I'm a believer in prison reform for non violent offenders who have proven to be rehabilitated...that's what it's supposed to do. If a couple thousand get a second chance to contribute, it's for the best...I think there are obvious exceptions...repeat offenders, etc...psychotics, etc...
Ill guarantee "rehabilitation" is less than 1%. Everyone else is repeat offender.

They could solve the problem 2 fold, a modified 3 strike rule. 3 felonies at 3 different times and death by firing squad. Now anyone who choses not to rehabilitate doesnt continue to tax drain. And firing squad is cheaper than lethal injection

until then, they'll have to feed themselves at least
Out of Jail today and on government assistance tomorrow.
Anybody in jail had half of there crimes reduced before they ever got to court, they deserve the time they were sentenced for. Yes it is possible for errors to have been made but that is what the court system is for. (and good behavior)
All for rehabilitating anyone and giving them a second chance, even yes liberals.
Any honest POTUS and I could be ok with a pardon.
Remember the rich tycoon Clinton releasedon the last day but made sure his wife transferred a big stack of cash to help.
What do you suppose Obama will get paid.

He is granted the ability to free those people by the constitution. He did what he thought was best. At least he didn't pardon Marc Rich.

In other words, what's the big deal here? The people he freed no doubt didn't deserve to be in prison for the kinds of sentences they got.

No one should be in prison for life for pot. Comeon.

A pal of mine, actually the smartest guy I have ever known, was one of the lawyers reviewing clemency petitions for Obama. It was a damn serious and rigorous process These are non-violent drug offenders whose would never get these type of sentences under today's guidelines.

Ok, we need not agree all the time. I sense, it is more often than not, by a significant margin.
