QB: Darron Thomas and Bryan Bennett both looked pretty good during 7 on 7 and for most of 11 on 11, but seemed to struggle a little during the situational drills when trying to move the ball. Thomas looked really accurate for most of practice and threw a lot of nice passes, one being a perfect pass right to the outside shoulder of Daryle Hawkins. Bryan Bennett looked similarly good as both QB’s were throwing darts to receivers. Bennett’s most impressive passes were some deep passes including one thrown right over Troy Hill to Will Murphy. Neither QB was able to score in any of the situational drills however as both the 1st and 2nd team went 0-3 at the end of practice, including an interception thrown by Bryan Bennett, and one play where Bryan Bennett took a sack on 4th down. Thomas looked a little better, but fumbles and drops kept him from scoring.
RB: LaMichael James had a bit of an off day as he wasn’t too much of a factor in the offense and also fumbled away the ball, while trying to get out of bounds in the situational drill. This fumble was not caused by a hit and was simply the ball slipping away. Kenjon Barner had a few decent runs and made some catches including a clutch catch for a 1st down in the situational drill. Barner did take a big hit at the end of practice though and needed help to the sideline. Lache Seastrunk was in the doghouse with Chip Kelly a little early in practice but did have some nice runs including a touchdown run in the redzone drill. Seastrunk did have a drop on an easy catch as well though....
