Isn't that just a bit much to coach college basketball??

Jeepers, batman.

Yep and Kentucky athletics was supposed to cut spending they said this summer. Calipari hasn't ever won a National Title and he is getting paid more than Coach K, Donovan, Roy Williams, Bill Self, etc? Stupid.

That matters on how much money he makes your school. Folks who bring in money get taken care of. No matter what business it is.

Yeah but he's making more then Roy Williams & Co. who have won championships which is pretty stupid. If you are going to spead $4 million per at least get a winner.

I'd say Coach Cal has a pretty good record given what he built at UMass and at Memphis. Particularly, if he brings those three prospects (Wall, Cousins, and Henry) over to Kentucky, you're talking about a legit final-four team next year easily. He's a top-tier recruiter, even if the kids stay for a one-and-done. He has connections with William Wesley.

In any case, he'll done a damn fine job. Guys like Izzo, Williams, Coach K, Pitinio and Donovan aren't going anywhere. Who else would you rather get. It's that situation where the newest contract is the largest. Callipari is a legit top-10 coach, which is good enough to make deep NCAA runs every year. I'm not surprised in the least that he got paid that much.

High profile college coaches should be paid as much as high paid NBA coaches.

If Coach K is making less then that, why the hell did he turn down the Lakers contract?
Because he likes coaching college basketball?

Roy Williams has turned down lots of NBA offers to coach teams, and he would have made a fortune, for that very reason.

Lets be realistic, NBA basketball is all about money and college basketball is all about the game. Even though the two are fundamentally the same they couldn't be more different. It's easy to see why a person would enjoy being part of one and dislike the idea of being a part of the other.

The sad part is that if you told all the coaches that they would only make 250 grand a year, most all of them would want to keep their current jobs. Nobody has the guts to lower the pay, they all want to entice so and so to come to their school. That takes more money each time and it just keeps going up.

I would do that job for a lot less...........they would get a lot less value from me though:pimp:

How much does he bring in? I don't care what someone makes; I care they produce a profit in regards to their compensation.

College basketball has a lot to do with money as well. Generating revenue and the amount of revenue a coach generates is a good indicator of how much he's going to get paid. Its all about the $$$.
