It was a very, very quiet 4th around here...no fireworks over the Fern Ridge Dam like usual...suits me just fine. Shrimp, Prawns, sweet potato fries and garden fresh salad....it's a good day

I LOVE FIREWORKS!

Guess who is spending the night at the Chehalis Indian Reservation!

Half price fireworks tonight after 9pm and all day tomorrow!

Big fireworks show tonight at the stadium on the reservation.

Did a classic car show in Hilo, loko moko gut bombs at Verna's and shave ice for dessert. Then we went back up the mountain and hung out with BG's next door neighbors. The locals are so laid back but ready to have a good time (Text book definition of "work hard, play hard"). It (seriously) isn't a real BBQ (or party) over here unless you have at least 5 different kinds of meat, followed by fresh poke and sashimi. Side dishes seem to be kind of an afterthought. But once these people welcome you to their houses, you are suddenly family. I've really grown to appreciate being called "uncle". And I'm glad BG has these folks here watching his back (and his house). We had a wonderful time and it really helped sand off the rough edges of my cynicism towards celebrating our "independence" in a country that is losing more individual rights each and every day. I wish the rest of America could adopt more of an Island Time/Life mentality. We would be so much better off for it.........

Hawaii is great that way...it's truly a place where the village raises a child...hence so many uncle's and auntie's. I miss that about living there.

That televised fireworks show from NYC was pretty spectacular. Any of you catch it?

Yeah. It was a nice show. The music was iffy.
